HS FOOT: Westlake passed over by CIF State Bowl selection committee

It's official. Westlake, the area's only program eligible to participate a CIF State Bowl next weekend, was not selected.

The pairings have been released, and Crenshaw of L.A. has been chosen to represent the South in the Open division, and Servite of Anaheim has been chosen to represent Div. II.

Had either of those two lost Saturday, it might have been different story.

Westlake was undefeated and Servite had one loss, but obviously Servite's more challenging nonleague schedule, plus the prestige of winning the Pac-5 Division, was too much to pass up by the bowl selection committee consisting of the California's 10
section commissioners.

Here are the pairings:


CIF STATE BOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS

at Home Depot Center

Friday

Small Schools: Parker (11-2) vs. Modesto Christian (14-0), 4 p.m.

Division I: Oceanside (13-0) vs.Bellarmine Prep (11-1-1), 8 p.m.

Saturday

Division III: Serra (14-0) vs. Marin Catholic (13-1), noon

Division II: Servite (13-1) vs. Rocklin (14-0), 4 p.m.

Open Division: Crenshaw (14-0) vs. Concord De La Salle (12-2), 8 p.m.
