The Montclair Prep of Van Nuys baseball team had it's hot start to the young season end Friday in a semifinal game of the Royal of Simi Valley tournament against Oxnard.

Despite allowing only four singles and no runs over the last five innings, the Mounties couldn't muster much offense in a 2-1 setback.

Oxanrd advances to tonight's championship game against Royal at Birmingham of Lake Balboa at 7 p.m.

Montclair Prep (3-1) will host Granada Hills at 2 p.m. in the third place game.

Dylan Satin settled down after yielding a single, walk and fielders choice in the first inning when the Yelowjackets pushed across both of their runs.

Satin struck out five and walked two but only received a run scoring double from freshman Ben McKendall in the fourth.

Sophomore left-hander Jayson Balades went the distance and struck out 10 for Oxnard.

Montclair Prep had it's three game stretch of scoring 10 runs or more halted.

"It was just a really good high school baseball game," Montclair Prep coach Rick Weber said. "It was a good opportunity for our team to play in a high-level game on the road early in the season."

The Mounties must regroup quickly with anothe rgame today and an Olympic League opener Tuesday at Campbell Hall of North Hollywood.
