Frosh/Soph Wrestling
Ali Naser of El Camino Real defeated Blayne Brisceno of Crespi to win the two-day, Frosh/Soph State Wrestling Championship.
There were 130 wrestlers in his 119-pound weight class and Naser became the first state wrestling champion at El Camino Real and the first City Section wrestler to win the Frosh/Soph title.
Both Naser and Briceno are freshmen and Naser made it to the Varsity state tournament this past season.

Miguel Gallegos was actually the first to win from the City Section last year at 130's.
Rafik Hovhannisyan of San Fernnando came close and lost in the finals at 130.
How legit Crespi's Briceno is remains to be seen. Naser on the other hand is the real deal and is the most successful Freshman in area history. Not even San Fernando in its storied history of State Medalists and four time winners has a Freshman that won so many tournaments along with two matches at the California CIF State Championships. If his commitment and health and choice of schools hold, ECR could join San Fernando in having a top-tier State Medal holder (4th or better) at the conclusion of the 2011 season in Bakersfield.
