HS HOOPS: Montclair Prep falls 57-47 in Div. V-A final

Montclair Prep of Panorama City cut a 13-point, third-quarter deficit to six, but its comeback bid came up short in a 57-47 loss to St. Anthony of Long Beach at the Southern Section DIv. V-A girls' basketball championship game at Mater Dei High's Meruelo Athletic Center in Santa Ana.

A three-point play by Kim Scamman pulled the Mounties within 48-42 with 2:47 remaining, but that's as close as Montclair Prep would get.

Kim Scamman led the Mounties (22-7) with 18 points and Long Beach State-bound Chantel Dooley added 12 points before fouling out with 2:23 remaining.

Jourdan Cooper led St. Anthony (23-9) with 12 points and Raquel Johnson added nine points for the Saints, who captured their first title since 2000.
