Boys' Basketball: Tidbits from Taft Summer League

Kevin Johnson, a 6'9 forward who sat out last season did not play for Taft but the Toreadros still beat Crespi behind Brandon Perry, Stephen Maxwell, Spencer Dinwiddie, Khiry Williams and Chris Yanku.

Perry looked much improved and in better condition.

Harvard-Westlake had no problem with Calabasas in a 20 point plus win.

Damiene Cain and Josh Hearlihy shined along with Zena Edosowman and new point guard Francis Hyde.

The Wolverines are expected to have three impact incoming freshman later this week.

Notre Dame was without Jahmel Taylor and Jonathan Bell in a close loss against El Camino Real.

Freshman Ausar Msdison has reportedly left the school and will attend a prep school back east according to coach Bill Bedgood.

ECR was without Temjae Singleton, who also missed the War on the Floor/Future Stars game last Saturday without explanation.

ECR is expected to unveil freshman Julian Richardson, Evan Wardlow and Malik Haynes later this week at the Crespi Showcase. Haynes has not officially decided where he will enroll in September.

Cleveland held off a five-player Montclair Prep squad, who was missing Trey Dickerson, Jake Boger, Max fried and Stephan Nembot.

Jayen Bland and sophomore to be Kody Riewthong looked good for Cleveland.

Birmingham edged Buckley in the last contest of the night. Birmingham was without 6'9 junior to be Marcus Holt and Damarrion Davis.

Nick de Bonfilhs and Tyler Coppin-Carter led Buckley with a host of what could be the best freshman class in Buckley history.
