Girls' basketball: Chatsworth gets two impact transfers

Teams in the West Valley League that wrote off Chatsworth when sisters Kim and Gennifer Brandon graduated three and two years ago respectively might need to rethink the notion that the Chancellors aren't contenders anymore.

The reason is, coach Michelle Chevalier revealed Wednesday a new pair of sisters checked into school recently.

Thomesha and T'liyah Smith from Texas by way of Georgia are forwards with near 6-foot frames.

According to Chevalier, the girls father is a military officer and he has been stationed in California for the next three years.

Chevalier also said the girls have flown under the radar because they were constantly moving around the country but Albany (New York) and Cal St. Northridge have shown early interest since finding out the girls are settled in.

Thomesha is a senior and T'liyah is a junior.

The duo will team with Jasmine Wooton, sophomore Christina Porvenzano and freshman Lindsey Rodriguez to instantly put Chatsworth back on the map.
