HS FOOT: Crespi and Clovis West are in a shootout

| | Comments (0) |

It's 21-21 at halftime here at Crespi, as Clovis West is giving the Celts everything they handle.

The first half was a shootout, as Crespi's Kenny Stenhouse completed 18 of 24 for 234 yards and two touchdownsthrough two quarters, while Clovis West's Kendall Brock rushed for 109 yards on 10 carries.

Crespi's Devin Lucien caught both first-half touchdowns on long passes down the right sideline, first a 40-yard early in the second quarter followed by a 32-yarder with 38 seconds remaining before halftime.

Crespi had difficulty stopping Clovis West's misdirection offense, a shotgun version of wing-T. But every time Clovis West delivered a blow, the Celts answered, though they never led in the first half and went into the locker room tied 21-21.

Crespi's rushing game was non-existent in the first half, as the Celts managed just 28 yards on 11 attempts, including three quarterback sacks.

But Stenhouse was accurate and productive enough to overcome Crespi's limited rushing attack, showing good poise and a fearless knack for staying in the pocket and hitting receivers at the last moment. In the first half, Lucien had four receptions for 95 yards.
