College volleyball: Pierce advances

| | Comments (0) |

The Pierce College womens volleyball team had no trouble with an old nemesis Saturday in a Southern regional quarterfinal playoff game.

Orange Coast College had knocked off the Brahmas in 2006 and 2008 but Pierce returned the favor with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-13 sweep of the No. 7 seed.

No. 2 Pierce moves on to Tuesdays semifinals against El Camino or Fullerton. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Woodland Hills.

Louisville High graduate Sarah Martin had 22 kills and Taft graduate Sarah Potter had 10 kills to lead Pierce (26-2).

Julianna Hicks had 43 assists and Kathleen Wright (Royal) had three aces.
