HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEMIFINALS

SOUTHERN SECTION

Times/sites subject to change

PAC-5

Alemany (12-0) at Servite (12-0), 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Cerritos College - Alemany, led by QB Vernon Adams, scores a lot of points, but this one figures to be a close, low-scoring affair.

NORTHERN

Oaks Christian (10-2) at Valencia (11-1), 7 p.m. Friday - Valencia's Steven Manfro has rushed for 2,439 yards and scored 40 TDs.

St. Bonaventure (11-1) vs. Westlake (11-1), site TBA, 7:30 p.m. Friday - Westlake looks to avenge a 32-31 double OT loss last month that broke the Warriors 22-game winning streak.

WESTERN

Chaminade (11-1) at Arroyo Grande (10-2), 7:30 p.m. Saturday -- Visiting Eagles are hoping it's not a long ride home.

MID-VALLEY

Whittier Christian (11-1) at Village Christian (8-4) at Glendale High, 7:30 p.m., Friday -- After failing to defeat a .500 opponent in the regular season, Village Christian is a Cinderella team.

EAST VALLEY

St. Margaret's (9-3) vs. Paraclete (11-1) at Antelope Valley College, 7:30 p.m. Friday - After being dropped a division after reaching the Mid-Valley quarterfinals last year, Paraclete is out to prove a point.

Sierra Canyon (11-1) at Yucca Valley (7-4-1), 7:30 p.m. Saturday - Sierra Canyon's only blemish is a regular-season loss to top-seed Paraclete.

NORTHEAST

Vasquez (10-1) at Boron (11-1), 7:30 p.m. Saturday - Boron has scored 50 or more eight times.

CITY SECTION

DIV. I

Taft (9-3) at Carson (10-2) - Taft is much improved since the beginning of the season, especially on defense.

DIV. II

Fairfax (8-3-1) vs. Arleta (11-1) at Monroe HS - Arleta coach Jeff Engilman: "Our guys need to play their hearts out, simple as that."

Palisades (7-5) at Chatsworth (10-2) - Chatsworth must feel invincible after winning just two games last year.
