Boys' basketball: One good game for Thu. Dec. 23

| | Comments (0) |

There is not a lot of basketball being played as most schools are done now through Christmas.

But there is one decent game left.

Oaks Christian at Sylmar at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Lions (4-4) will debut football players Dillon van der Wal and Blair Holliday while Sylmar has the high-scoring Alex Moreno despite a 1-8 record.

Oaks Christian has also been getting great production from junior point guard Chass Bryan, Taylor Hange, Jono Wening, juniors Mike Roletti and Jason Ghilarducci and sophomore forward Jackson Miller.

Moreno should receive help from Van Nuys-transfer Kevin Ward.

No word yet on the eligibility of Van Nuys-transfer Chad Thomas.

Should be an interesting game nonetheless because two of the most affable coaches in the region will be getting after it on the sideline.

Oaks Christian's Andre Chevalier in his first year back coaching boys after a three-year stint handling the girls' program and Sylmar's Bort Escoto, who has never had a problem speaking his mind to reporters or officials.

Tip-off is at 7 p.m. at Sylmar High
