Boys' basketball: Westchester tournament update

Two quarterfinal games were played Wednesday at the Westchester tournament.

Washington Prep beat Alemany, 80-70.
Taft easily disposed of Community Charter, 71-40.

Taft and Washington will face each other in a semifinal Friday at 7 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.

Alemany will play Community Charter in a fifth-place semifinal Friday.

Alemany cut the deficit to three points late in the game but couldn't get over the hump.

Taft received 24 points fro Colorado-bound guard Spencer Dinwiddie and 13 points and eight rebounds from newcomer C.J. Blackwell, a player who could end up as City Player of the Year if remains consistent.

Carson plays Peninsula and Westchester takes on neighborhood foe St. Bernard in quarterfinal games tonight.
