Girls' basketball: Big news from Inglewood tournament

The big news on Wednesday from the Inglewood tournament was Oaks Christian's 10-point victory against Bishop Montgomery, ranked No. 10 in the state by Cal-hi Sports.

The Lions pulled off one fo the season biggest upsets so far.

Oaks Christian lost by 19 points to the Knights in a Div. IV state playoff game last year and graduated top player Katie Brooks.

New coach Mario Trutanic has Oaks Christian riding high after two games and now the Lions are in the championship quarterfinals where they will join top programs Bell-Jeff, Santa Monica. Sierra Canyon, St. Bernard and three other teams.

Meghan McIntyre has been shooting exceptionally and the Lions are receiving strong performances from PAC-10 recruit Brianna Barrett, Crystal Owusu, Beth Mounier, Ayzhia Aupiu and Nicole Packard.

Oaks Christian takes on Bell-Jeff with the right to adavance to the semifinals on the line Thursday.
