Connor Hill, a quarterback from Oak Park High, was misidentified in Sunday's edition. He accounted for two TDs, one passing and one rushing, for the Southern Section in a 17-14 win over the City at Birmingham High.
We apologize for the error.
Four good games in the area Tuesday night.
Thousand Oaks at Simi Valley, 7:30 p.m.

Gor Plavchyan scored 27 points, had 16 rebounds and blocked three shots to help Grant stay undefeated in the East Valley League after a 57-48 victory against defending league and Div. III champion Verdugo Hills.
Plavchyan had 16 points and 12 rebounds at halftime as he outplayed Chris Dees.
Plavchyan was instrumental in Grant's 16-2 run covering nearly six minutes in the second quarter.
The Dons (15-9, 8-2) only mustered two free throws during the stretch when Grant switched to a 2-3 zone defense.
Grant improved to 14-10, 9-0 and are on track to win its first league title since 2004.
Clinton Grainger, a quarterback for Pierce College, has committed to Temple. He also had offers from Florida International and North Texas.

Proceeds benefit the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita.
.
Trevor Smyth, a 230-pound linebacker for Valencia, has committed to Navy.
Dillon van der Wal, a 6-foot-7 tight end/defensive lineman for Oaks Christian, has decommitted from Arizona State and committed to Vanderbilt.
He says he'll play tight end in college, and he that he wants to be part of Vanderbilt's rebuilding project after the team went 2-10 in each of the past two seasons.
"They have me playing tight end in the SEC, and on top of that, the education can't be beat," van der Wal said.
Plus his name fits perfect -- van der Wal at Vanderbilt.
"Ha, that worked out pretty well," he said.
With National Signing Day looming on Wednesday, Alemany quarterback Vernon Adams is leading toward Portland Staten after enjoying a weekend visit this past weekend. Teammate Akeem Gonzales, a lineman, is headed to Oregon State.

El Camino 20-3, La Canada 19-3
Mike McGlashan did all he could for the La Canada boys' basketball team with 25 points but it wasn't enough to overcome a 28-3 disadvantage in free throws attempted in a 68-59 setback.
Matt Faber and Mason Holle each added 11 points for the Spartans (19-3).
Chris Gorman scored 23 points to lead El Camino, Dayton Boddie had 19 and Mookie Beard had 17 as the Wildcats (20-3) overwhelmed La Canada in the paint.
Holle converted a three-point play with 3;13 remaining to get La Canada within four points but Trevon Tucker made a 3-pointer to extend the lead to seven and El Camino cruised from there.
La Canada must feel like they are playing against eight people.

El Camino has shot 19 free throws and La Canada has shot zero.
Defending City small-schools champion L.A.C.E.S. had no problem with North Torrance in a 42-28 victory in the first game of the day at the Nike Fairfax state preview classic.

Akeem Gonzales, a defensive lineman for Alemany, has committed to Oregon State. He is also a top wrestler.
There's something about a neighborhood rivalry that can bring out the best in high school basketball players.
In the unfriendly confines of Hart's packed gymnasium Friday, visiting Canyon rose to the pressure in a 68-47 Foothill League victory, as both entered tied for second place and one game behind Valencia.
Coley Apsay scored 20 points and Darnel Haggerty added 19 and seven rebounds, as Canyon (16-6, 4-2) broke open a close game with a late run in the second quarter, then led by 10 or more for the rest of the evening to help take the home crowd out of the game.
"When you come into a place like this, it brings out your competitive fire," Haggerty said. "Man, it's enjoyable to win. Words can't describe it."
Apsay hit four 3-pointers over the first three periods, as Canyon built a 19-point lead heading into the final quarter.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game, and we came to play," Apsay said. "I love the environment when we play Hart. The movement, the uptempo style of play, everything."
The win was Canyon's fourth in a row over Hart (11-10, 3-3) over the past two seasons.
"We struggled with their zone defense," Hart's Roman Delgado said. "It was a tough loss, but we'll definitely come back. This is my senior year, and we're not going out like this."
Delgado scored 15 points, and Cole Preston added 16, as Hart managed just eight points off the bench and struggled to outhustle the scrappy Cowboys, who chased every loose ball and constantly badgered the host Indians with pressure defense.
"That's what we're all about - defense, defense, defense," Haggerty said.
The opening tipoff got off to a late start, and both teams came out tight, trading baskets for most of the first half until Canyon finished with a 14-4 run to pull ahead 30-20 at halftime.
"I'm just proud of my team's overall effort. My kids came and did what they had to do," Canyon coach Chad Phillips said. "It feels good coming into a Friday-night game at Hart, a big game. It's always a lot of fun, and our boys were excited to do what they came here to do."

Sylmar coach Borth Escoto said it first.
"We may not make the playoffs."
For the first time since 1996, Sylmar is in real danger of not qualifying for the postseason.
Sylmar is currently 7-15 and has already lost twice to Kennedy, who is undefeated and has won 11 games in a row.
Here is a quick recap from Cleveland asst. coach Chris Howe
Cleveland snapped a three game losing streak by exploding for 34 points in the fourth quarter to defeat El Camino Real, 70-65 on Wednesday. The Cavaliers trailed 52-36 after the Conquistadores' torched them in the third quarter, 23-6. Julian Richardson scored 10 points in the quarter (12 overall) and Anthony Jones, ECR's high scorer with 24 points, added 9 in the quarter. ECR's Temjae Singleton fouled out early in the fourth quarter and scored only 10 points.
Cleveland's Jaylen Bland led the way with 26 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. JR Williams hit two huge 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, including one which put the Cavaliers in front to stay, on his way to 12 points, and added five assists. Adrian Francis hit three 3-pointers in the quarter after struggling from the field earlier, to help spark the surge, and finished with 13 points. Jason Moore (10 points) made 6 of7 free throws down the stretch to help seal the victory for the Cavaliers, who moved into sole possession of second place in the West Valley League.
The 2011 Moorpark tournament is set.

Here are the pools and the scheduel for the first two days.
Pool A: Alemany, Palmdale, Westlake, Saugus
Pool B: Agoura, Kennedy, Chaminade, Rio Mesa
Pool C: Chatsworth, Loyola, Santa Monica, Thousand Oaks
Pool D: Crespi, El Camino Real, Lancaster, Oaks Christian
Pool E: Cleveland, Dos Pueblos, Hart, Moorpark

Pool H: Burroughs, Quartz Hill, St. Bonaventure, West Ranch
Games on Friday March 4
3 p.m.
Alemany at Palmdale, Westlake at Saugus, Kennedy at Agoura, Chaminade at Rio Mesa, Chatsworth at Santa Monica, Thousand Oaks at Loyola, El Camino Real at Oaks Christian, Lancaster at Crespi, Moorpark at Cleveland, Dos Pueblos at Hart, Camarillo at Ventura, Calabasas at Harvard-Westlake, Buena at Simi Valley, Valencia at St. Francis, Burroughs at West Ranch, Quartz Hill at St. Bonaventure
Simi Valley should have no fears about playing close playoff games this season.
The Pioneers (15-6, 7-2) have won six Marmonte League games by four points or less, including three games by a single basket.
"It is a tough way to live," asst. coach Ryan Moore said.
Brandon Perry, a Taft junior who has come on strong after being slowed by an ankle injury followed by the flu, committed to Cal State Northridge on Tuesday.
"I feel good. I'm 100 percent now, and I really like Northridge and coach (Bobby) Braswell because of the family atmosphere," Perry said. "I'm really excited about coming there."
Perry, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound forward, transferred from Canyon after his freshman year, looking for a competitive edge.
"I just needed a challenge and wanted to come to Taft to show my talents," Perry said.
Perry played limited minutes as a sophomore but has continued to improve.
"It took him a little while to adjust to a high level of basketball, a faster level, plus learning a new system," Taft coach Derrick Taylor said. "He's healthy and playing really well, getting his timing back. He moves quick, he jumps well, but our goal next year is for him to get down to about 230 pounds, so he will be even more explosive."
Perry plans to undergo an offseason training program to include weight-lifting and cardio.
"He's going to be our next really big star," Taylor said.
Perry had other colleges interested, mostly mid-majors, Taylor said, but the Taft coach said Perry wanted to stay close to home.
Taft (17-2) has won seven in a row and faces one big challenge prior to the City playoffs - a intersectional showdown Feb. 5 against Concord De La Salle (16-2) at the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
"That's going to be a tough one," Taylor said.
After scoring 20 touchdowns for the football team this past fall, Thousand Oaks' Richard Mullaney has switched to basketball, and this time his focus is on defense instead of scoring, as he is the team's designated defender, which means he guard's the other team's best player.
"It's different, but I like the challenge," Mullaney said. "I know it's my role on the team because someone like Evann Hall is going to score a lot more, so I am the defender. Everyone knows their roles, and that's what we need to do to be successful. Defense is really important."
Heading into the stretch run in the Foothill League, three teams are within a game of first-place Valencia (15-6, 4-1), including Hart (11-9, 3-2), one of the area's most improved teams after going 5-22 last winter.
The Indians lost to Valencia 56-53 on Tuesday on a night when they could have moved into first place. When the neighborhood rivals meet again in the season finale Feb. 10, there figures to be a lot on the line.
"Hart has improved dramatically. They play as a team, and they're well-coached," Valencia's Jake Kelfer said.
If Hart wants to be around at the end, the Indians probably need to win the next four.
"We still have a chance," Hart's Roman Delgado said. "I like the pressure. It feels good to be winning again. We're definitely playing harder and have more of a will to win. We don't want to lose anymore."
Dushon Carter, a former Renaissance Academy standout, is playing at Westwind Preparatory Academy, a prep school school in Phoenix, where he is averaging 12 points and six assists.
"It's something different, definitely a new experience being away from home," Carter said.
Carter, known for his jumping ability, is receiving recruiting interest from several colleges, including Portland State.
El Camino Real is going through some growing pains, as the young Conquistadores have lost four in a row. After winning six of its first seven, El Camino Real is 11-10 with a lineup that includes three freshmen who play significant minutes - Maleke Haynes, Julian Richardson and Evan Wardlow.
"Our youth has sometimes cost us a little bit down the stretch, but the kids are showing a lot of development and maturity," El Camino Real coach Dave Rebibo said. "I'm very excited about the future."
Anthony Harris, a former head coach at Chaminade and Campbell Hall (where he was also athletic director), is the new athletic director at La Salle High in Pasadena.
Nick Isham of Westlake is the co-player of the year in the Northern Division, and that's among the highlights as the CIF has released its All-Southern Section teams.
San Fernando has been banned from participating in the playoffs as punishment for using an ineligible player, according to an L.A. Times blog.
Cold-shooting Simi Valley High fell behind by 14 points Wednesday at Calabasas, but the visiting Pioneers pecked away and played great defense down the stretch, holding Calabasas scoreless over the final five minutes to escape with a 52-50 basketball victory that put a serious dent in Calabasas' plans to win the Marmonte League title.
"It was one of those ugly games, but any road win is big. I'm glad we got out of here with the win," said Simi Valley Jonathan Davis, who scored 22 points.
Calabasas (15-6, 6-3) missed five shots in the final minute.
"I take the blame, but it was a bad team effort," Calabasas' Lenard Gorokhov said. "There's nothing we can do about it. We just need to regroup and play more as a team."
It was the sixth time Simi Valley (15-6, 7-2) has won a Marmonte League game that came down to the final possession.
"We were fortunate to get a lot of stops in a row at the end," Simi Valley coach Christian Aurand said.
Davis hit two free throws with 1:14 left to give Simi Valley the lead for good. Teammate D.J. Saul scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Pioneers managed to come out on top despite no one else scoring more than six points.
"D.J. really stepped up tonight," Davis said.
Dewar scored 16 points for Calabasas, and Gorokhov added 12 and Nick Justman eight.
Patrick Carroll, a two-time All-Mission League offensive lineman for St. Francis, has committed to UNLV.
The All-Southern Section football teams in all divisions -- plus the highly respected All-Southern Section team encompassing every school -- are set to be released Thursday. Stay tuned.
Chaminade senior Travis Newman had 26 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals to lift the Eagles to their 13th consecutive victory Tuesday with a 60-38 Mission League triumph over Louisville.
Harvard-Westlake senior Skylar Tsutsui scored 16 points, all in the second half, to push the Wolverines to a 56-48 Mission League victory Tuesday over Alemany.
Barring a stumble by either team Thursday -- Harvard-Westlake (15-8, 4-1) plays host to Notre Dame and Chaminade (19-2, 5-0) plays host to Flintridge Sacred Heart -- they will square off next Tuesday at Harvard-Westlake in a game that should decide the league title.
Chaminade got the better of Harvard-Westlake with a 51-46 victory Jan. 11, snapping the Wolverines' 13-game league winning streak.
Newman's effort was her best since recording 35 points, 10 rebounds and six assists against Louisville in a 72-34 league victory in 2009.
Tsutsui is averaging 12 points per game in six career matchups with Alemany since transferring to Harvard-Westlake prior to her sophomore year.
The Montclair Prep boys' basketball team accomplished something it has not done in a very long time.
The Mounties beat Campbell Hall for the first time since a season sweep of the Vikings in 2002 with an 81-70 Alpha League victory.
Montclair Prep's last win in the rivalry before that was a Southern Section Div. V-AA semifinal playoff victory in 1996 held at Notre Dame High.
"I can't believe it has been that long but we also weren't in the same league for several years but it was a good win for us," Montclair Prep coach Greg Patterson said.
Trey Dickerson led four Mounties in double figures with 26 points, including three 3-pointers and six free throws in the second half.
Jake Boger scored 18 points, Fried had 16 and Amonte Dees had 11 in a balanced effort.
"Jake played extremely well and has been our most consistent player," Patterson said. "He plays hard all the time."
The Mounties got off to a quick start thanks to two first quarter 3-pointers from Max Fried and several easy layups in transition.
Montclair Prep held a seven point lead at halftime but Campbell Hall made a comeback.
Austin McBroom, who finished with 32 points, led the charge as the Vikings went ahead 40-39.
However, Montclair Prep responded with a 14-2 run and led the rest of the way.
Fried and Dickerson each had three point plays and Dees made two baskets.
"We got a little lazy at the start of the third quarter but after we got our energy back up we finished the job," Dickerson said.
McBroom tried to rally the Vikings time and time again but fell short despite 17 second half points, including making all 10 of his free throws.
K.J. Smith scored 13 points and Skylar Jones and Zack Klein each had 11 for Campbell Hall.
"We played great," Campbell Hall coach Steve Wachs said. "The operation was successful but the patient died."
Montclair Prep firmly put itself into second place one game behind Windward.
The Mounties travel to play the league-leading Wildcats Friday with a share of first place on the line.
"We have to stop their big guys, rebound and not turn the ball over," Dickerson said. "We have to play smart."
Adam Ehrlich has committed to Loyola Marymount.
Ehrlich has been an all-CIF catcher at Campbell Hall the past two years.

Are you ready for some fast paced, year round exciting football?
Mike Juels and Mike Sherrard sure hope you are. The co-founders of the National Youth Passing League are giddy with excitement over a brand new league that could change the way football and football players are developed in the United States. The N.Y.P.L. will begin its first season locally on May 21st and has already partnered with several local youth tackle football leagues to get things started.
They also expect an influx of athletes from first time football players to flag football players looking to take the next step towards tackle football.
However, in the N.Y.P.L. there will be no tackling. The league is a 7-on-7 passing league designed to develop the quarterback, running back, receiver, tight end, cornerback, linebacker and safety. There are no linemen and no tackling. Players will wear proprietary soft-shell helmets.
Games will be played on weekends at various locations across California but locally at Oaks Christian in Westlake Village, Newbury Park High School, and Westlake High School.
"I really think this can revolutionize how football players develop
starting at a young age," Sherrard said, who is a former first round draft choice of the Dallas Cowboys and 12-year NFL veteran, who played collegiately at UCLA.
While basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, soccer and many other sports already have year-round leagues, games, camps and clinics, football is hoping to join the mix.
"The possibilities are endless," Sherrard said. "This league will have a dramatic impact on how football is coached and played at the youth level."
The N.Y.P.L. has partnered with several major sponsors, including a partnership with USA FOOTBALL who is the official youth development partner of the NFL and NFL Players Association.
The website www.playnypl.com is up and running with all information needed to join and registration is ongoing. League fees start at $250 with 10% being donated back to the youth program the athlete originates from. Registration includes helmet, home & away jerseys, mouthpiece, cinch bag backpack, membership into USA FOOTBALL and much more!!
Congratulations are in order for coaches Kevin Kanemura and Dick Dornan and the Kennedy boys' basketball team.
The Golden Cougars improved to 14-8 and 7-0 in the Valley Mission League after a 59-55 victory against Reseda Monday.
Kennedy is in the drivers seat to win the league title for the first time in recent memory.
Sophomore Dom Vargas had 27 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
Josh Walker had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Noe Anaya had seven points and 11 rebounds.
Kennedy has won 10 consecutive games.
The next game is Wednesday at home against Sylmar at 5:30 p.m.
The Crespi boys' basketball team all but saw its slim hopes of a Mission League championship go down the drain in a 66-55 setback against Loyola Monday.
The Celts (16-5, 4-3) came into the contest two games behind Harvard-Westlake and couldn't overcome a huge first quarter deficit and playing without point guard London Perrantes.
They also ran into a hungry team, who was not too happy about losing 76-72 on Jan. 5 against the Celts at home.
"With our point guard out it was hard to find a flow," Kenny Stenhouse said. "We have to find a way to adjust the rest of the way. We had too many turnovers and gave up too many offensive rebounds."
Perrantes missed the game with a right leg injury and is out indefinitely.
Crespi let the Cubs sprint out to a 14-3 lead that grew to 23-6 before Crespi mounted a valiant comeback attempt.
Stenhouse had seven points in the second quarter to get Crespi within nine at halftime and the Celts cut the deficit to three with 1:20 remaining in the third quarter on a Stenhouse three-point play.
Stenhouse had a chance to trim the lead to two but missed the front end of a one-and-one situation and Loyola took over from there to close out the game.
Freshman Parker Jackson-Cartwright scored a basket after Stenhouse's miss and made a runner in the lane with two minutes remaining to push the lead to six.
Justin Childress scored a basket and made two free throws to seal the game as Crespi went cold.
Childress finished with 20 points and had six rebounds and six assists while making all six of his free throws in the fourth quarter.
Jackson-Cartwright had 12 points, five assists and four rebounds and Julian Harrell added 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Loyola also played without top-shooter Joe Stein, who was ejected from Saturday's victory against St. Francis after making six 3-pointers.
Stenhouse had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead Crespi.
Matt Mounier had 12 points and Reggie Coates added 12 points and seven rebounds.
"Winning league was one of our goals but it is not a big deal as long as we make another run in the playoffs like we did last year." Stenhouse said.

Mi'Chael Wright scored 17 points and Annie Tarakchian had 11 points to lead Chaminade in a 47-37 nonleague victory against El Camino Real at the Oaks Christian showcase.
The victory not only improved the Eagles to 18-2 but should push them to the region's top-team coupled with No. 1 Canyon losing to Sierra Canyon.
Chaminade led 25-20 at halftime and then held the Conquistadores (9-10) to only four third quarter points.
Shannon Kingery had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead ECR and Cora Chan scored all 10 of her points in the first half.

The struggles continue for the El Camino Real boys' basketball team.
The Conquistadores suffered an extremely close loss against Birmingham in West Valley League play Friday and couldn't hold a 10-point second half lead against San Pedro in a 58-51 nonleague setback at Oaks Christian.
DaShawn Brown scored 23 points and Alan Garcia added 15 for the Pirates (7-11).
New Mexico St.-commit Temjae Singleton and J.T. Nemit each scored 13 points to lead ECR.
Things looked good for ECR after Anthony Jones completed a 3-point play late in the fourth quarter for a 51-50 lead but Brown answered with a 3-pointer, Garcia converted a 3-point play and Brown made two free throws with six seconds remaining to seal the win.
The Conquistadores dropped an 88-86 decision in overtime to Birmingham after Corey Randall made a 60-footer from beyond half-court at the regulation buzzer to send Fridays game into overtime.
The road doesn't get any easier with a game against Taft on Monday and two more league games next week
Jasmine Smith scored 21 points, including 12 in the first half to help the Guards in a nonleague victory at the Oaks Christian showcase.
Smith helped Bell-Jeff take a seven point-lead at hlaftime it would not relinquish after a 20-13 spurt in the third quarter.
The Guards suffered a humbling setback against Santa Clara Jan. 8 and a five-point loss against Harvard-Westlake but have come back for victories against St. Genevieve and the Lions, who figure to be City Section championship contenders.
Fairfax received 19 points from D. Haley and 15 points each from A. McDaniel and John'ea Thompson but the trio was not enough to overcome the balance of Bell-Jeff.

Canyon 18-3, Sierra Canyon 12-9
The Canyon girls' basketball team made a valiant comeback attempt in its showcase game with Sierra Canyon at Oaks Christian High but ultimately fell short in a shocking 47-44 nonleague setback in overtime Saturday.
Canyon went on a 16-2 run in the final 5:30 of regulation to force overtime but only made one field goal in the extra period.
Tori Wells scored 13 points, Zoe Goss had 10, Jasmine Sneed nine and Toni Oni 8 to lead a balanced effort for the Trailblazers, who were coming off an impressive victory agianst Montclair Prep the night before in an Alpha League contest.
"It was real intense and I'm just glad the girls came back and played hard and fought through," Sierra Canyon coach T.J. Knox said.
Sierra Canyon frustrated the Cowboys (18-3) early with crisp execution and solid defense.
The Trailblazers extended their five-point halftime lead to 10 by the end of the third quarter and went ahead 39-25 early in the fourth quarter.
However, Canyon would not go down quietly.
The Cowboys put together a 12-0 run highlighted by two baskets from Alia McCoy and a 3-pointer from Jaya Schultz.
Schultz made another 3-pointer in overtime to cut into a 45-41 deficit but Wells made a driving layup on the ensuing possession as the shot clock expired with one minute remaining in the game and no team scored again.
"We played as a team and we have been a more cohesive unit the last few weeks," Sneed said. "Practices have been better and we all have each others backs."
McCoy finished with 12 points and Schultz had eight to lead Canyon.
Amber Evans made a layup with five seconds remaining in regulation to force the extra period.
Canyon must regroup after a humbling loss because its only two defeats came at the hands of St. Bernard and Bishop Montgomery.

Sophomore Tyler Coppin-Carter scored 16 points and Nick de Bonfilhs had 15 to lead Buckley in a 55-42 nonleague victory against Ribet Academy at the Oaks Christian showcase.
Buckley held a slim four-point lead at halftime but extended the advantage to nine at the end of the third quarter and led by as many as 19 midway through the fourth.
Washington-St.-bound Greg Sequele scored 17 points to lead the Fighting Frogs (10-10).
Buckley (12-4) is off until next Thursday when it will travel to Viewpoint for an important Liberty League contest trying to keep its undefeated league record intact.
The Oaks Christian boys' basketball team got a bit of revenge in its key Tri-Valley League game against Oak Park Friday and in turn stayed unbeaten and took sole possession of first place in a wild 69-64 victory.
Chass Bryan established himself as one of the regions most promising junior point guards with 25 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Bryan single-hadedly kept the Lions in the game in the first half with 15 points and then calmly sank six of eight free throws in the fourth quarter to help keep Oak Park at bay.
Bryan was 14 of 16 from the free throw line.
"It was all teamwork," Bryan said. "We played like a team in the second half. We got our big guy the ball, we played defense, we made free throws, we got the win on the road."
The victory was especially gratifying for Bryan after he experienced a humbling 66-48 defeat last season in a game that let Oak Park gain a share first of place.
"We are trying to not let that happen this year."
Oaks Christian trailed by five points at halftime but used a surge early in the third quarter to get even and go ahead. The Lions (14-6, 5-0) finally found 6'8 forward Dillon van der Wal underneath and the Arizona St.-football commit went to work. van der Wal scored eight points in the quarter, Taylor Hange made a basket and 3-pointer and Bryan had four points to help Oaks Christian take a 44-36 lead.
"Dillon was man-child in the second half," first-year boys coach Andre Chevalier said. "We really needed his presence in the paint."
However, the Eagles (12-10, 4-1) made two free throws on a technical foul and a basket to end the quarter and gained momentum to stay in the game.
Jackson Hall and J.D. Slajchert each made two 3-pointers for Oak Park in the fourth quarter matching van derWal, Bryan and seven points from Oaks Christian's Mike Roletti.
Oaks Christian led 64-61 with under one minute remaining when Roletti made one of two free throws. The Lions were feeling good at that point but they fouled Hall on a 3-pointer and he made all three free throws.
However, Bryan made two free throws with 18.8 seconds remaining and Roletti would later add two free throws to help the Lions breathe a sigh of relief.
Oaks Christian had no answer for Ron Lee in the first half as the sophomore had 18 points in the first half.
The Lions made a halftime adjustment by assigning Taylor Hange to guard Lee and he was held to six free throws and no field goals.
"We played some defense in the second half. We threw two guys at Ron and wanted to get the ball out of his hands," Chevalier said.
Lee finished with 24 points, Hall had 18 and Slajchert 10 for Oak Park.
van der Wal finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Hange had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Lions.
Blair Holliday didn't score many points with six but had four rebounds and four assists in a key role to take pressure off and keep the Oak Park defense honest.
Devin Burleson and Namon Wright, freshman basketball players have checked out of Price and are enrolled at Pacific Hills.
Burleson and Wright attended Ribet Academy last year as middle school students then briefly went to Sierra Canyon this September before checking in at Price.
Three high schools in one semester might be a new record.
Burleson scored 18 points against Montclair Prep last Friday in a 64-63 Montclair Prep victory.

Wasn't it just yesterday when El Camino Real won the City title at Dodger Stadium?
Time flies, and baseball season is rolling around again. El Camino Real plans to open the year in style with an alumni game at Saturday at noon preceded by a 10 a.m. home run contest.
If Conor Jackson makes an appearance, I am going out on a limp and picking him to win the home run contest.
VALENCIA - In an all-star football showcase featuring so many talented participants on both sides, it was only fitting the game came down to the end.
The West nearly overcame a 14-point deficit over the final three minutes, scoring two late touchdowns including a 5-yard run by Oxnard's Terrell Watson with 1:19 remaining to pull within a point, but the East's Luke Reynolds of Hollywood broke up a pass on a two-point conversion attempt to seal a 21-20 victory for the East on Sunday before a crowd of about 4,500 in the 15th annual Daily News East-West All-Star Game at College of the Canyons.
On the deciding two-point conversion attempt, a pass by Oaks Christian's Richie Harrington to Thousand Oaks' Richard Mullaney was broken up in the end zone by Reynolds, who celebrated like he just won the Super Bowl.
"It feels great to save the win," Reynolds said. "I knew coming in that we played a lot of weak opponents at Hollywood, so this was my chance, and I reached out and made the play."
The win was the East's fourth in a row and fifth over the past six years in a series the West leads 8-7.
Valencia's Steven Manfro was named game MVP after scoring all three touchdowns for the East on runs of 17 and 2 yards, and a 14-yard pass from Valencia's Alex Bishop.
"It was great to be out here on a whole new team. We practiced for two weeks and bonded really close and played as a team," Manfro said. "We were playing with a purpose today."
Manfro rushed for 56 yards on 13 carries and had four receptions for 44 yards in limited minutes, as both teams shuffled in a lot of players.
Watson scored all three touchdowns for the West, including a 72-yard run on the first play of the second half, finishing with 114 yards on 14 carries.
"It was great to be out here playing football again. I've missed it," Watson said. "On the long touchdown run, I was looking to cut back, and I got some great blocks up front and some great blocks downfield."
J.J. Sabatine of Notre Dame had three fumble recoveries and was named East MVP. Alemany's Akeem Gonzales added two sacks, as the East forced four turnovers and escaped with the win despite totaling just 34 yards in the second half and being outgained 402-279.
The West had one last chance with the ball at midfield with one second left, but a Hail Mary pass by Grace Brethren's Max Leffler intended for Mullaney was knocked down by Muir's Aaron Simpson.
Harrington completed 22 of 38 passes for 274 yards and an interception. Mullaney has six catches for 78 yards, followed by Westlake's Casey Fry (five for 69) and Chaminade's Josh Yeager (four for 32).
West coach Jim Benkert of Westlake lost an all-star game for just the second time in 12 games. For East coach Kevin Rooney of Notre Dame, it was a satisfying victory after the Knights finished just 2-8 during the season and missed the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade.
West quarterback Nick Isham of Westlake, expected to be a key impact player, arrived just before kickoff after returning from a weekend recruiting visit to New Mexico State, and he opted not to participate.
Burroughs' Lucas Yanez started at quarterback for the East. He completed 3 of 3 passes for 30 yards and added a 17-yard run on the opening drive before taking a hit to the chin and suffering a grade-two concussion. He did not return.
"I play in the Pacific League, and I'm not used to taking such hard hits," Yanez said. "I don't even remember what happened."
Alemany's Vernon Adams completed 5 of 7 passes for 71 yards for the East, and he added 32 yards rushing on eight carries. Bishop of was 5 of 10 for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Cleveland 51, Upland 48
Jason Moore hit a three pointer as the buzzer sounded to lift the Cavaliers (9-7) over the Highlanders (12-6) in a Johnnie L. Cochran Classic game at LACES. Jaylen Bland had a game-high 30 points to go along with 12 rebounds for Cleveland, which trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half. But a strong defense gave the Cavaliers a one point lead with two minutes to play, and when Bland hit a three pointer as the shot clock expired, Cleveland led 48-44. But two Upland layups tied the score with 31.5 seconds left, setting the stage for Moore, who finished with six points. Jeremy Hayes added 2 points and 9 clutch rebounds for the Cavaliers, who have won three in a row.
Cleveland 77, Birmingham 64
Jaylen Bland led the way for the Cavaliers in a West Valley League victory over the Patriots. Bland had 19 points in the first quarter en route to a 32 point, 12 rebound performance, sparking Cleveland to a 29-10 lead. Birmingham fought back, outscoring the Cavaliers over the final three quarters, but it was not enough. Jeremy Hayes and Jason Moore each scored 10 points, including two clutch baskets each in the fourth quarter when Birmingham cut the lead to 10 points. JR Williams added 12 points and 9 assists for the Cavaliers.
Cleveland 67, Granada Hills 30
The visiting Cavaliers routed the Highlanders in the West Valley League opener for both teams. Cleveland jumped out to a 17-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, confusing Granada Hills with its tough defense and solid offensive execution. Cleveland stretched the lead to 39-14 at the half, and did not let up, requiring the 'mercy rule' running clock a minute into the fourth quarter. Jaylen Bland led the way, stuffing the stat sheet with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals. JR Williams ran the offense to admirably, scoring 13 points and dishing out 6 assists. Kody Riewthong added 9 points and 5 assists, while Jason Moore chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds. The Cavaliers, who host improved to 7-7 (1-0 in league); the Highlanders fell to 9-8 (0-1).

Jordan Fuller picked the right time to hit a key shot for the Alemany boys' basketball team in the marquee game of the War on the Floor showcase at Pierce College late Saturday night.
It was close to 10:30 p.m. when Fuller dashed from the half-court line and swung through to the deep right corner where he received a wonderful pass from Jerico Richardson and made a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer for a wild 70-67 nonleague victory against Oaks Christian.
Fuller finished with 14 points, Richardson led the Warriors (13-5) with 19, Marqueze Coleman had 12 and Max Guercy had 11.
Alemany led 67-65 until Chass Bryan calmly buried an 18-footer with 3.2 seconds remaining to knot the game at 67-67 before Fuller's heroics.
Both teams had multiple games the past week but were ready for the nonleague showdown, which was a rematch of Oaks Christian's 68-59 victory in a fifth-place semifinal at the Oaks Christian tournament on Dec. 29.
Quite a rivalry is brewing between the two private schools as Alemany pulled off an upset of the top-seeded Lions (12-6) in the quarterfinals of last year's Div. IV-A playoffs. Alemany went on to the championship game before losing to Mission League rival Crespi.
Bryan led Oaks Christian with 20 points while Jason Ghilarducci and Taylor Hange each had 12 and Mike Roletti had 11.
Dillon van der Wal had six points and 11 rebounds, one night after pulling down 17 rebounds in a blowout win against Santa Clara.
van der Wal might have been more effective but was hampered by foul trouble. The Warriors clearly had no answer when he was on the floor.
Alemany also did a good job running the floor in transition with the absence of Oaks Christian's Blair Holliday (official football visit to Duke) scoring early in the first half on several easy layups.
Oaks Christian battled back to trail by only three points at halftime and had a 52-48 lead entering the fourth quarter.
The game is Sunday at 3:30 at College of the Canyons in Valencia.

6-foot-10 Kevin Johnson exploded for 26 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks in his best game this season.
Johnson came ready to play on a national stage.
"Kevin can be as good as he wants to be," Taft coach Derrick Taylor said.
The Toreadors improved to 14-2 and will fly home for a huge West Valley League game Wednesday against undefeated El Camino Real.
First place will be on the line at Taft as the senior five of Taft (Johnson, Spencer Dinwiddie, C.J. Blackwell, Stephen Maxwell and Khiry Williams) take on New Mexico St.-bound Temjae Singleton, Anthony Jones and the young Conquistadores (Maleke Haynes, Julian Richardson and Evan Wardlow).
Granada Hills had no problem with Campbell Hall in the first game of the morning at the War on the Floor showcase at Pierce College in a 54-25 victory.
Tricia Tomita had 15 points and Kristi Nishida had 11 for the Highlanders (10-7), eho are the favorites to win the West Valley League over Chatsworth.
Lauren Holliday had 13 points to lead Campbell Hall, which was playing without point guard Nicole Tolbert and had a late night game with Sierra Canyon on Friday.
Four area wrestlers have advanced to the quarterfinal round of the prestigious, 98-team, 5-Counties Tournament at Fountain Valley High.
El Camino Real had teammates Ali Naser (at 125 pounds) and Aaron Tracht (189) both advance after Naser won two matches, including a 21-6 win over Stephen Henry of Servite, and Tracht won three times.
However, Tracht's first match on day two of the tournament Saturday is against the defending state champion Morgan McIntosh of Calvary Chapel while teammate Naser could face an equally daunting opponent if he wins twice more and reaches the finals.
If the top two seeds at 125 pounds advance to the final match, Naser - the No. 2 seed - would meet the two-time defending state champion Alex Cisneros of Selma for the second straight week.
In their first meeting at the Doc Buchanan in Fresno last Saturday, Cisneros narrowly beat Naser 3-2 in overtime.
The others to advance at 5-Counties included Trever DeVestern of Littlerock, who had two pins both in 50 seconds or less at 145 and Matt Hickman of Camarillo, who also continued in the championship round at 152 pounds with a 16-5 decision and a pin.
Carlos Lazo and Adrian Manzo, both of Crespi, came close to advancing as far, but lost their last matches on Day One - Manzo on a 3-2 decision to Anthony Roybal of Hesperia and Lazo got pinned in 1:27 to Dallas Poston of Foothill of Palo Cedro. Had Lazo beaten Poston, he would have faced Hickman.
The Oaks Christian boys' basketball team was without two regular rotation players but it hardly mattered in an 85-49 Tri-Valley League victory against Santa Clara.
Blair Holliday was on a recruiting trip to Duke for football and Jason Ghilarducci was sick so Dillon van der Wal, Chass Bryan, Taylor Hange, Jordan Flannery, Mike Roletti, Jono Wening, Grant Gustavson and Jackson Miller all stepped up.
van der Wal had 15 points and 17 rebounds and Bryan had 10 points and 11 assists.
Hange had 13 of his 15 points in the first quarter as the Lions (12-5, 3-0) opened up a 30-6 lead.
Roletti had an all-around solid game with 13 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Flannery, only a freshman, finished with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.
Oaks Christian plays Alemany Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Pierce College in the War on the Floor showcase before another league game Wednesday at Nordhoff and a huge first-place showdown with neighborhood-rival Oak Park next Fridat at 7 p.m.

What a great week for young underclassmen.
On Monday, Calabasas freshman Jeremy Lieberman scored on a driving left-hand layup with one second left in a 56-55 upset over Thousand Oaks. On Wednesday, El Camino Real sophomore Cris Francis hit a jumper with one second in a 57-56 upset over Chatsworth, and on the same night Alemany freshman Bear Henderson came through with the biggest freshman performance of all, scoring 19 points with 10 rebounds in a shocking 80-57 win at Crespi.
"Bear came off the bench and hit some big shots and got some big rebounds," Alemany coach Trey Meeks said. "He's been up and down, so he wanted that breakout game. It wasn't such a surprise because he works so hard in practice. He found some spots and made some plays. That's what it's all about."
Henderson is 6-foot-3 and is expected to grow to 6-7.
"He scored 35 in a game during the summer when we were down to six guys, so we knew he was capable of scoring in bunches," Meeks said. "He's got some soft hands, and he's strong. That's why he's the Bear."
The victory, a rematch of last year's Southern Section Div. IV-A final won by Crespi, boosted the Warriors (12-5, 3-1) into a tie for second in the Mission League behind Harvard-Westlake (15-2, 4-0).
Now that one key rematch has been avenged for Alemany, the Warriors have similar business at 8:30 p.m. Saturday against Oaks Christian at the annual War on the Floor at Pierce College. At the Oaks Christian tournament on Dec. 29, the Lions defeated Alemany 68-59, though Alemany had come through with a bigger victory over Oaks Christian last season in the playoffs - a huge upset at the time because Oaks Christian was seeded No. 1.
"We're trying to even the score. It's going to be a fun game," Meeks said. "They play hard and we play hard. I guess it's the main event of War on the Floor, the game of the night, so we hope to give the people something to watch."
The other boys' matchups at War on the Floor: Montclair Prep vs. Chaminade, 4 p.m.; Notre Dame vs. Sylmar, 5:30 p.m.; and Valencia vs. Campbell Hall, 7 p.m.
Not including last year's forfeits, Sylmar has put together 13 consecutive winning seasons under 16-year coach Bort Escoto. This year, after winning just two of its first 15 games, Sylmar (4-13, 2-1) won two in a row heading into tonight's Valley Mission League game at San Fernando, and Escoto is not ready to give up on his Spartans.
"We still have chance to win the league and go 11-1 in league if we take care of business," Escoto said. "That's not being arrogant. It's the truth. The league is ours to win if we don't keep beating ourselves."
How competitive is the Mission League? Just look at the Southern Section rankings: Loyola is No. 1 in Div. I-A; Crespi is No. I and Harvard-Westlake is No. 2 in Div. III-A; and Alemany is No. 4 in Div. IV-AA.
That might explain why Chaminade, No. 7 in Div. IV-AA, is 0-3 in the Mission League but 11-3 against everyone else, having lost to Harvard-Westlake, Loyola and Alemany.
"Those are three of the better teams," Chaminade coach Todd Wolfson said. "We struggled against Loyola, but we had Harvard-Westlake down by four or five in the fourth quarter, and they just pulled away at the end. We're so young, and we made some mistakes. I think our youth kind of caught up with us a little bit, but these are quality teams. We're fighting and playing hard."
Trevor Wiseman, a Golden Valley alum, is get significant playing time as a true freshman at Hawaii, averaging 3.3 points and 3.8 rebouds in 18 minutes.
"It's pretty fun. I like the weather, but I don't get a chance to get to the beach all that much because of basketball," Wiseman said.
Playing in front of crowds as large as 13,312 at BYU has been an eye opener.
"Way more people than high school," he said.
The 15th annual Daily News East-West All-Star Football Game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday at College of the Canyons in Valencia, and among the top players for the West has been a group of unheralded City Section players.
"I've been really impressed with Jonathan Williams, the running back from Kennedy, and the Chatsworth kid (running back D'ondre Alexander) is a really good player, too, and also the two offensive linemen from Granada Hills (Javier Velasquez and Mario Ramirez)," West coach Jim Benkert of Westlake said. "It looks like we've found some pretty good players. It's not that I don't respect City football because I played for El Camino Real. I appreciate City football. The Monroe kid (linebacker Antonio Blanco), he's a hard-nosed kid, too."
Williams figures to get a long look, but the West's key running back is Oxnard's Terrell Watson, a 6-foot-2, 205-pounder who is coming off a spectacular season that included 369 carries for 2,905 yards and 38 touchdowns. He carried at least 25 times in all 11 games, and he also had 22 receptions -- plus 100 tackles as a linebacker.
"He's obviously a special player, and I know first hand because he rushed for 240 yards on 50 carries (and two touchdowns) in the season opener against us," Benkert said. "The Kennedy kid is a stud, too. Those are our two main running backs."
Among the West standouts on defense are linebackers Duke Bautista from Crespi and Max Winsberg from Westlake and defensive back Casey Bliss from Westlake.
"The middle linebacker from Crespi (Bautista) is a spark plug. He runs around and makes plays," Benkert said. "He's probably one of the leaders on the defense."
HERE IS THE KICKER
Chaminade kicker Matt Goudis, one of the West's top players, has dropped out because of a hip injury. He has been replaced by Reseda's Steve Ponce, who had six field goals this past season.
EAST COMING ALONG JUST FINE
Some unsung players are emerging for the East, including Chris Hollis, a receiver from North Hollywood.
East quarterbacks Vernon Adams of Alemany and Alex Bishop of Valencia both like multi-purpose back Austin McBroom, who has scored a lot of long touchdowns over the past two seasons but mostly against light competition.
"I really like Austin McBroom from Campbell Hall. He fits right in," Bishop said. "It's crazy. We have a high level of talent."
Added Adams: "Austin McBroom is really good. I had never seen him play but had heard about him. Yesterday in practice, he was something else. He's really good."
Jeff Coprich, a junior running back, has a transferred from Golden Valley to West Ranch after rushing for a school-record 1,273 yards and seven touchdowns.
"I like it here. It's good," Coprich said.
The Grizzlies have yet to win a Golden League game since joining five years.
Chris Gant, a former Alemany receiver now at Moorpark College, has committed to Hawaii. He also played high school football at Montclair Prep.

For the first time in the 15-year history of the Daily News East-West All-Star Football Game, the event has been switched from the summer to the winter, and this year's game is scheduled for Sunday at College of the Canyons in Valencia. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the Valley Youth Conference.
Rarely have there been so many talented participants, particularly at the skill positions.
Some of the West's top players include quarterbacks Nick Isham of Westlake and Richie Harrington of Oaks Christian, receivers Richard Mullaney of Thousand Oaks and Devin Lucien of Crespi, defensive lineman Dillon van der Wal of Oaks Christian and kicker Matt Goudis of Chaminade.
The East roster includes quarterbacks Vernon Adams of Alemany of Alex Bishop of Valencia, running backs Steven Manfro of Valencia and Malcolm Thomas of Panorama, receiver Shane Drozdowski of Alemamy, offensive lineman Akeem Gonzales of Alemany and return specialist Austin McBroom of Campbell Hall.
Even the coaches are all-stars - Westlake's Jim Benkert for the West and Notre Dame's Kevin Rooney. They're in the midst of a two-week preparation period that includes nine practices. Special rules allow for limited blitzing on defense and for kickoffs to be returned from the end zone, so there should be plenty of big plays and scoring.
"It's one of the most talented groups, overall, that I've seen, especially the quarterbacks," Rooney said.
At Notre Dame, Rooney runs a sophisticated motion offense, but on Sunday the plan is to keep it simple and to try find ways to get the football to his assortment of speedy backs and receivers.
"The Manfro kid from Valencia looks really good. We plan to give him the ball," Rooney said.
The 15th annual Daily News All-Star Football Game is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at College of the Canyons.
Among the surprises for the East has been the impressive performances by some of the Pacific League players, particularly Burroughs quarterback Lucas Yanez and Burbank linebacker Ryan Seidler.
"The Burroughs quarterback is doing a good job, and that Ryan Seidler from Burbank, he sure gets to the ball. He's doing a good job, too,"East coach Kevin Rooney said.
For the West, Oxnard's Terrell Watson has looked good at receiver and defensive back.
The 15th annual Daily News All-Star Football Game is Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at College of the Canyon, and some of the players have been forced to juggle their schedule with winter sports. For the East, Gonzales is also participating in wrestling and McBroom is playing basketball, and for the West, Mullaney and van der Wal are playing basketball.
McBroom could be an X-factor. He has excelled at the small-school level as a running back and especially as a kick returner but has rarely faced an elite opponent. Also a top basketball player, McBroom is deciding between the two sports, and in past Daily News All-Star events, some of the standouts have earned instant scholarships.
"We want Austin to play so he has as many options as possible," Campbell Hall basketball coach Steve Wachs.
McBroom could team with Manfro to a form a lethal kickoff return tandem
Little guys that could: Besides McBroom, among the other small-school participants are Village Christian linebacker Omar Eloustaz, St. Genevieve defensive lineman Nick Goodreau and Flintridge Prep offensive lineman Sam Cook for the East, along with .Grace Brethren quarterback Max Leffler, Sierra Canyon receiver Shane Harrison, running back Daniel Green of Santa Clarita Christian and defensive lineman Steven Rawls of Montclair Prep and Lloyd Tunstill of L.A. Baptist for the West.

Freshman Jeremy Lieberman mad the game-winning layup with 1.5 seconds remaining
Just when Harvard-Westlake was considered third fiddle to Crespi and Loyola in the Mission League this year, the Wolverines rose to the occasion Monday in a 56-47 victory against Crespi.
With the win, the Wolverines (14-2, 3-0) are alone in first place and looking every bit like another league championship is well within reach.
"We know what we can do," Colorado-bound forward Dameine Cain said.
Harvard-Westlake came out hot and the Celts, which were riding a 12-game winning streak, were simply cold.
Crespi had plenty of good shots in the first half against the Wolverines zone defense but couldn't knock them down.
Junior Josh Hearlihy scored 16 points to lead Harvard-Westlake, Cain and Jordan Butler each had 11 points and junior Zena Edosomwan had 10 in a balanced effort.
"Being the underdog was motivation for us," Cain said. "We really felt like we had nothing to lose. We knew we could do it."
Sheng and Butler each made a basket and 3-pointer in the first quarter and Hearlihy had two baskets as the Wolverines jumped out to a 16-7 lead that grew to 31-16 by haltime.
Justin Rubia kept Crespi in the game in the third quarter with 11 points, including eight in a row to cut an 18-point deficit to 10 with 30 seconds remaining in the quarter.
The Celts had a golden opportunity to get even closer but Christian Johnson missed a layup and Reggie Coates missed the follow-up tip-in at the third quarter buzzer.
Crespi played catch-up from there and Rubia hit two more 3-pointers to trim the deficit to five points with under a minute remaining but that was as close as the Celts would get.
"Shots didn't fall," season leading scorer Matt Mounier said. "Their length probabaly had something to do with it."
Rubia had 17 points, Coates had eight but Mounier was held to five as Crespi struggled to score all night.
Harvard-Westlake took advantage of its size advantage with Cain (6-7), Edosomwan (6'7), Hearlihy (6'7) and David Burton (6'6).
Crespi had trouble getting the ball inside and had an off night shooting from outside, despite still making seven 3-pointers.
"Their length bothered us for sure," Coates said. "We weren't ready for it. We have to get more serious in practice."
Harvard-Westlake improved to 28-9 against Crespi under current coach Greg Hilliard and won its fifth consecutive since losing in the second round of league play in 2008.
The Wolverines have a busy week ahead with games against Chaminade and Loyola but they are in first place all by themselves.
Scott Faer, one of the San Fernando Valley's top young coaches, has resigned from Poly after three seasons "for personal reason," according to athletic director Kim McEwen.
"I've already had two people call me wanting to apply. I think we're going to have some good applicants," McEwen said.
Kaity Lykins, a senior guard at Royal will be attending and playing basketball at Redlands next year.
Lykins, along with Chelsea Jacoby and Gabbi King, has helped the Highlanders to first place in the Marmonte League.
The 15th annual Daily News East-West All-Star is Jan. 16 at College of the Canyons. The coaches are Kevin Rooney for the East and Jim Benkert for the West.
There will be a few add-ons and a few might drop out, but for now here are the players particpating:

The West Ranch boys' basketball team knew it was going to have tough time with defending Div. IV state champion Price in a showcase game at College of the Canyons Saturday.
The Wildcats were going up against a veteran, talent-laden team and would so without one of its top players, sophomore forward Ako Kaluna.
West Ranch just didn't think it was going to go as bad as it did in a disappointing 58-18 nonleague setback.
"Nobody looked like they wanted to show up and play," said Kaluna, who is recovering from injuries to his hip, ribs and right shoulder. "It was pretty embarrassing."
The Wildcats only trailed 12-6 after one quarter but were outscored 20-2 in the second quarter and only managed 10 points in the second half.
West Ranch was stuck on 13 points with three minutes remaining when the game went to a running clock.
Justin Ballenger had six points to lead West Ranch.
Colorado-bound Askia Booker had 17 points to lead Price.
Jaime Trujeque had 11 points and St. John's-bound 6'10 forward Norvel Pelle had six.
Windward 38, Diamond Ranch 31
Kristen Simon had 10 points in the win.
Erika Williams had 13 points in the loss.
The Chatsworth boys' basketball team just keeps on winning.
The Chancellors had to come from behind Saturday in a showcase game against Community Charter at College of the Canyons but they were up to the task in a 55-37 victory.
Jason Monje scored 12 of his 14 points in the decisive third quarter as the Chancellors (16-3) turned a one-point halftime deficit into an 11-point lead going into the fourth.
"The whole team started slow so I had to step it up," Monje said. "The whole team played better in the second half."
Chatsworth went on a 14-2 run aided by three 3-point play opportunities, a 3-pointer from Derrick Hector and two free throws and a layup from Terrell Funches.
Hector finished with 14 points and Funchess had 10.
The Titans (8-11) were led by Lawrence Domingo's 16 points but no other player scored more than six.
Domingo had trouble at the free throw line, going 6 of 17, keeping Community Charter in a big hole.
Chatsworth may have the most victories in the are but now has to start West Valley League play next week.
The Chancellors travel to El Camino Real on Wednesday and host nationally-ranked Taft Thursday at 7 p.m.
"We have to be smart and not have turnovers like we did today," Monje said.

While Sequele got help from five teammates who each scored six points apiece, Hart only received four points from its fourth and final scorer.
The Cleveland boys' basketball team had a chance to gain some momentum before its West Valley League opener next week but let a six point lead slip away in a 41-37 setback against Compton Centennial at the College of the Canyons showcase.
The Cavaliers (6-7) went on a 9-2 run to take a 34-28 lead early in the fourth quarter but went into a scoring drought the rest of the way while yielding an 11-0 run.
Bernard Davis made a layup and Chris Townsell had five points during the run to get Compton Centennial over the hump.

THOUSAND OAKS - Stop Jonathan Davis and you stop Simi Valley.
The high-scoring senior was burdened by early foul trouble and played just 19 minutes Friday, scoring just eight points as Thousand Oaks defeated the visiting Pioneers 71-55 in a Marmonte League basketball showdown before a capacity crowd of about 1,400.
Davis picked up his second foul just four minutes into the game and sat the rest of the first half, as Thousand Oaks (15-1, 4-0) opened an early 11-point lead and was never seriously threatened.
Davis, guarded carefully by Thousand Oaks' designated defender Richard Mullaney, did not make his first field goal until six minutes into the third quarter.
\
"We came out flat, and when I'm not in the game we struggle a little bit on offense," Davis said. "Mullaney is a great defender. I have a lot of respect for him."
Mullaney had help, too. Every time Davis put the ball on the floor, another Thousand Oaks defender quickly hustled over to double-team him, and the George Washington-bound forward got increasingly frustrated.
Evann Hall scored a career-high 33 points for Thousand Oaks, hitting 9 of 11 shots including three 3-pointers and pulling down 11 rebounds with two assists. He's struggled with foul trouble in recent weeks, too, so he could relate to what Davis was going through.
"It's hard sitting on the bench, but that helped us tonight," Hall said. "Plus, no one likes being double-teamed. I know I don't. I've actually been friends with Jonathan for a long time. We played club ball together when we were freshmen."

Crespi guard Matt Mounier is 12 points shy of scoring 1,000 for his career entering tonight's Mission League game against St. Francis.
Mounier is leading the Celts (13-3, 1-0), averaging 19.5 points per game.
The 6-foot-3 senior had 28 points in Wednesday's 76-72 victory at Loyola.
Mounier scored 15 points in two varsity games as a freshman, added 222 points as a sophomore and led Crespi with 439 points last season, before scoring 312 points in the Celts' first 16 games to accumulate 988 for his career.
Oaks Christian receiver/defensive back Jordan Payton and Crespi lineman Jordan Simmons, two of the area's top juniors, have been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American football game in Jan. 2012.
Payton caught 61 passes for 840 yards and nine touchdowns this season, in addition to recording 28 tackles, helping Oaks Christian win the Southern Section Northern Division title.
Simmons, a transfer from Dorsey, helped the Celts reach the Pac-5 Division quarterfinals in coach Jon Mack's first season at Crespi.

Moorpark dropped to 13-2, 2-1.

Taylor Hange had 27 points, including five 3-pointers and Dillon van der Wal had 22 points and 13 rebounds in the nonleague victory.
Trey Dickerson had 22 points and Charles Lockett added 20 for 12-3 Montclair Prep
Crespi High exorcised a basketball demon Wednesday, breaking a four-game series losing streak against powerful Loyola by defeating the host Cubs 76-72 in a Mission League showdown - Crespi's first victory over Loyola since the 2007-2008 season.
"That was one of our preseason goals - to beat Loyola this season," Crespi's Matt Mounier said.
Crespi did a good job of surging to an early lead to help take out Loyola's boisterous crowd, as the Cubs' gym can be a tough place to steal a victory because there is so much fan support.
Crespi led by 10 or more for most of the evening, and the advantage was 16 points with just over three minutes remaining when Loyola hit four 3-pointers to grease a 22-9 run that cut the lead to 75-72 in the final minute, but Crespi hit just enough free throws to escape with the win.
Mounier scored 28 points, hitting 7 of 11 from the field with three 3-pointers while going 11 for 11 from the line. But he did not hit a field goal in the fourth quarter as Loyola (9-4, 1-1) mounted its comeback.
"Loyola got hot and made some tough shots. There's not much you can do about it," Mounier said.
Or, as Crespi coach Russell White put it: "We held on for dear life."
Defending Southern Section Div. IV-A champion Crespi improved to 13-3, 1-0, but there is not much time to savor the victory because the Celts have four Mission League games scheduled over the next seven days.
"We'll enjoy it tonight, then we'll wake up tomorrow and start working on free throws and press attacks and getting better," White said. "This feels great, but it's just one win in league.
Reggie Coates added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Justin Rubia scored 10.
It was a game of runs between Montclair Prep and Oaks Christian in the final nonleague tuneup for both teams before league play begins Friday.
The Lions were able to outlast the Mounties, 78-70.
Taylor Hange scored 27 points, including five 3-pointers and Dillon van der Wal had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead Oaks Christian, which won its fourth consecutive game.
The Lions started fast and took 15-6 lead before extending the advantage to 10 in the second quarter.
However, Montclair Prep would not be deterred and went on a 16-2 run to end the half and lead 36-32 at the break.
Charles Lockett scored nine of his 20 points in the quarter to spur the comeback.
Oaks Christian then sprinted away in the third quarter with a 20-7 run to go ahaead by nine but Montclair Prep scored eight in a row to get back in the game,
Hange made a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter and the Lions made nine of 14 free throws to hold off the Mounties.
Junior guard Trey Dickerson had 22 points to lead Montclair Prep, which should be a force in the competitive Alpha League.
Blair Holliday had nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists in an all-around solid game for Oaks Christian and junior point guard Chass Bryan added 12 points.
Max Fried and Amonte Dees chipped in nine and eight points, respectively for Montclair Prep.
Full Marmonte League preview for tonight from Ryan Moore, Ventura County hoops guru
Simi Valley 10 - 4 (2 - 0) @ Moorpark 13 - 1 (2 - 0)
Moorpark:
- Moorpark comes into the game sporting their best record since they won the league championship in 2003. The Musketeers have already surpassed their win total of the last two seasons combined.
- Moorpark is led by ultra-athletic wing, Lionel Poole who averages 12 points and 9 rebounds per game along with sharp shooting sophomore, Jake Meyers.
- Moorpark went 4 - 0 in the Cathedral City Tournament's California Division but somehow did NOT win the championship due to some very interesting scheduling on the part of the tournament.
- Coach Eddie Gutierrez has done a masterful job rebuilding the program in just his 3rd season at the helm after previous stops at Royal (head coach) and Newbury Park (assistant coach).
Simi Valley:
- Simi Valley is an enigma at times this season with wins over Ventura and Valencia and losses to St. Francis and Flintridge Prep.
- The Pioneers are led by George Washington signee, Jonathan Davis who is averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds per game. Junior, DJ Saul and senior, Jesse Di Nonno are almost halfway (59 - 3 pointers made) to being the most prolific three point shooting duo in Pioneer history. The record is currently held by Jered Weaver and Ryan Bradshaw with 126. Saul is just hitting his stride after missing three games in the Crescenta Valley Tournament with the flu.
- Simi Valley has never finished lower than 3rd in the league under Coach Christian Aurand.
Tonight's Game :
These two teams have never met with both being undefeated in league play.
A share (or sole possession) of first place is on the line tonight depending on the outcome of the Westlake @ Thousand Oaks game.
Californiapreps.com has Moorpark #3 in Ventura County and Simi Valley at #4.
Westlake 9 - 6 (1 - 1) @ Thousand Oaks 13 - 1 (2 - 0)
Westlake :
- Westlake has perhaps the most bulk in the league with Taylor Tattersall (6'4), Nick Zavala (6'6), Blake Reed (6'4), Johnny Stuart (6'4), Nick Kahn (6'4) and Angelo Jacobs (6'4) all checking in at 6'4 or taller.
- Brennan Walker has staked his claim as one of the best point guards in the league so far this season. His behind the back passes and flair for the dramatic give him a Pistol Pete like feel and he can ignite his team's fast break in a hurry.
- Westlake went 2 - 2 last week in the Ventura Kiwanis Tournament
Thousand Oaks :
- Thousand Oaks is led by Austin Cagely and his 16 points per game along with Anthony Jacques and Evann Hall. Hall was a 1st team all Marmonte League selection a year ago.
- Thousand Oaks went 3 - 1 in the Cathedral City Tournament's National Division last week, losing in the championship to Capo Valley.
- Thousand Oaks has won or shared 8 of the last 13 league titles.
Tonight's Game:
Thousand Oaks is hands-down the toughest place to play in the Marmonte League but long-time rival Westlake has done admirably over the past few seasons (2 point loss last season, 4 point loss in 07 - 08 and a 36 - 35 victory in 06 - 07)
Westlake beat Thousand Oaks and Calabasas last year which ended up creating a tie in the Marmonte League standings between Calabasas and Thousand Oaks. (Westlake's win forced a must win game for Thousand Oaks @ Calabasas in the final regular season game)
Royal 9 - 6 ( 0 - 2) @ Calabasas 10 - 5 (1 -1 )
Royal:
Royal is perhaps the youngest team in the league, often starting 4 sophomores and a junior.
Max McCoy and JR Powell are the scoring leaders on offense for the Highlanders and both have almost unlimited range.
Royal went 2 - 2 in the tough Clovis Elks Tournament last week, beating Beyer (Modesto) and Sunnyside (Fresno) while dropping close contests to Buchanan (Clovis) and Clovis East.
Calabasas
Callum Dewar has been the leading scorer so far this season and has been an all tournament selection at Campbell Hall and Chaminade.
Freshman point guard, Jeremy Lieberman leads the league in assists at 4.8 a game.
Calabasas went 3 - 1 last week, losing in the championship to tournament host, Chaminade.
Tonight's Game:
Calabasas is a tough place to play but Royal's roster although young, has plenty of experience with McCoy, Powell, and sophomore Nick Creber all contributing to the varsity last season.
Calabasas has never lost to Royal since joining the Marmonte League but Royal does own a 40 point victory over Calabasas in the Saugus Tournament during Russell White's 1st season as head coach at Calabasas.
Agoura 7 - 7 (0 - 2 ) @ Newbury Park 3 - 11 (0 - 2)
Agoura:
Agoura got off to a hot start winning 5 of their first 6 games, including a tough championship game loss in the Burbank Tournament to Notre Dame.
Steve Wilson has led the Chargers with a shade under 16 points per contest.
Shayan Boloor has led the Chargers in almost every other statistical category after being named 3rd team All-Marmonte League last season.
Newbury Park:
Newbury Park has had a tough start to the season after being hit hard by graduation last year.
The Panthers have won 2 of their last 3 games (against Salesian and AGBU) in the Chaminade Tournament
Kamana Keohohou has been the leader this season as a junior after starting much of his sophomore season at the point guard spot.
Tonight's Game:
Agoura came into the year with hopes of grabbing an automatic playoff bid from the league, tonight is a must win for the Chargers to keep that goal alive.
The winner of tonight's game keeps playoff hopes alive, albeit on the outside looking in and the loser will have a tough hole to dig out of the rest of the way.
The countdown has begun for the annual Daily News East-West All-Star Game, as the teams have begun practicing in preparation for the much-anticipated showdown Jan. 16 at College of the Canyons. Kickoff is 3 p.m.
"There is by far more talent in this game than I've ever seen in any of the previous all-star games," organizer Bill Speer said.
The West, coached by Westlake's Jim Benkert, is loaded with quarterbacks Nick Isham of Westlake and Richie Harrington of Oaks Christian, receivers Richard Mullaney of Thousand Oaks and Devin Lucien of Crespi, defensive lineman Dillon van der Wal of Oaks Christian and kicker Matt Goudis of Chaminade.
The East, coached by Notre Dame's Kevin Rooney, has won the past three in the series and might be an early favorite once again with a star-studded cast that includes quarterbacks Vernon Adams of Alemany and Alex Bishop of Valencia and running backs Steven Manfro of Valencia, Kevin Ervin of Poly and Malcolm Thomas of Panorama.
Proceeds benefit the Valley Youth Conference. Information: (818) 425-7360.
Britton Doerbecker from tiny Hillcrest Christian school in Granada Hills is having quite a senior year for the Eagles.
He has led the team to a 12-1 record and is averaging 27.1 points and 15.5 rebounds.
Here is his game log.

Not bad for one of the top small-schools players in the region
An uninspired loss or a great comeback, take your pick.
West Ranch High came from 19 points down Tuesday to defeat visiting Camarillo 72-66 in overtime in a nonleague showdown between two of the area's most competitive programs.
West Ranch was nursing a 1-point lead with seven seconds remaining in overtime when Justin Ballenger put the Scorpions away for a good with a 23-foot 3-pointer in front of his own bench to boost the lead to 70-66.
"I just needed to step up for my team and make a big shot," Ballenger said. "It was definitely a good pass from my teammate, David Harris, that set me up."
Ballenger, a 6-1 guard, added two free throws a few seconds later to finish with 21 points, including four 3-pointers. With 20 seconds left in regulation, he missed a free throw that could have prevented overtime.
"After I missed that free throw, I knew I had to step up in overtime," Ballenger said.
West Ranch improved to 12-3, but never have the Wildcats come back from such a large deficit.
Josh Caton added 12 points, and Ako Kaluna chipped in 11 before limping off the court early in the third quarter with an injury.
Camarillo fell to 10-6 under first-year coach Alan Sadowsky, who was visibly upset.
The Scorpions could do no wrong in the early going, hitting eight three pointers over the first nine minutes to open a 28-9 lead.
"There was no way they were going to keep shooting that well all night," Ballenger said.
Everyone in the building knew that.
"We came out really strong but we couldn't stay that hot," Camarillo's Jake Maulhardt. "In the first quarter, we were making everything and they were missing everything. But that's a good team over there."
The Campbell Hall boys' basketball team found out firsthand that trudging through Alpha League play is not going to be easy.
The Vikings got off to a quick start against Windward Tuesday in a league opener but quickly saw its lead disappear and could not recover in a 79-67 setback.
Harvard-bound forward Wesley Saunders exerted his will underneath the basket for 33 points and 10 rebounds and junior forward Nick Stover added 15 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four blocks.
"He is an offensive animal," Campbell Hall's Cole Huff said. "He is so strong and you know what he is going to do but you can't stop it. They bullied us in the middle."
Campbell Hall took a 19-12 lead near the end of the first quarter but Windward finally tied the game at 25-25 midway through the second quarter and took a 39-30 halftime lead.
Jordan Wilson had eight points in the first quarter and Saunders scored 10 of his 15 first half points in the second quarter.
"We had a sequence of three or four times where we made mistakes, turned the ball over and they capitalized," Huff said.
Saunders made a layup and Wilson made a 3-pointer to start the second half to put Windward ahead by 14 points and they never looked back.
Huff had a monster slam dunk and Jeremy Clark made a layup to cut the deficit to 10 points early in the fourth quarter but Saunders came back with two free throws and Stover made a layup to push the lead back to 14.
Huff, who was battling a leg injury suffered last week at the Torrey Pines finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Austin McBroom was Campbell Hall's leading scorer with 22 points. McBroom had five rebounds and four assists.
Campbell Hall also received an outstanding performance from fifth starter Zack Klein, who finished with nine points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Wilson finished with 15 points and six assists for the Wildcats, including making all four of his four free throws in the fourth quarter.
"If you take out the second quarter we won by one point," Campbell Hall coach Steve Wachs said, half-jokingly. "Over three quarters of the game we were right there. We can't afford to make mistakes and have lapses like we did. We got out of sorts in the second quarter.
Things won't get much easier for Campbell Hall in the toughest small-schools league in Southern California, which includes Sierra Canyon, Montclair Prep, Brentwood and Pacific Hills.
"Next to the Mission League I think we are the most competitive private school league in the area," Wachs said.
Time has expired, and we're right back where we started from at West Ranch, as the host Wildcats and visitiing Camarillo are tied 63-63. Camarillo missed two close shots in the waning seconds.
Stay tuned.
Campbell Hall got off to a hot start in the first quarter but cooled off in the second and trails Windward 39-30 at halftime.
Harvard-bound Wesley Saunders has 15 points for Windward, who is 8-5 coming in.
Austin McBroom has nine points for the Vikings (11-4 coming in) but picked up his third foul with 2:02 remaining in the second quarter.
The Campbell Hall girls' basketball team came into its Alpha League opener against Windward undefeated with 11 consecutive victories to start the season.
That streak is over after a 77-37 loss against the highly-regarded Wildcats (10-4, 1-0) who had five players in double figures, sprinted out to a 14-0 lead and finally had the services of 6-foot-7 forward Imani Stafford.
Stafford finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
Stafford was forced to sit out several games the past month because she did not meet her father's academic standards of a 3.5 GPA.
Freshman Jordin Canada had 15 points, Milica Toskovic had 13 and Stafford, Courtney Jaco and Kristin Simon each had 10 for Windward.
Nicole Tolbert led Campbell Hall with 16 points, including 13 in the second half.
The Vikings (11-1, 0-1) trailed 20-2 in the first quarter, were down 23 points at halftime and a running clock was used in the final two minutes of the game after the lead ballooned to 40.
Windward 27 11 21 18=77
C. Hall 4 11 12 10=37
Windward-Jordin Canada 15, Milica Toskovic 13, Courtney Jaco 10, Imani Stafford 10, Kristin Simon 10, Smith 9, Mosley 5, Baird 5.
C. Hall-Nicole Tolbert 16, Brown 8, Holiday 6, Cendrowski 5, Johnson 2
Windward 10-4, 1-0
C. Hall 11-1, 0-1
Two of the area's successful programs go head to head in a nonleague game in just a few minutes, as West Ranch is preparing for visiting Camarillo.
West Ranch (11-3) is coming off a good performance at the Mt. Carmel tournament, while Camarillo is 10-5 and is hoping to win 20 games for the first time since 1982-83.

Aaron Liberman has a good shot to help carry Valley Torah to an eventual Southern Section Div. VI-AA title. He's 6-foot-9 and averaging 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks, as Valley Torah (8-2) has won eight in a row after opening with losses to national power Etiwanda and to Reseda at the buzzer.
"He's a really good player, and he's a really long with a wing span that's 7-2," said first-year coach Robert Icart.
Valley Torah, a private Jewish school, defeated rival Yeshiva on New Year's Day on Saturday, and Liberman celebrated with a triple-double: 26 points, 20 rebounds and 12 blocks.
Liberman has 19 dunks, and he's expected to play college basketball after traveling to Israel for a year to study Judaism beginning next semester to study Judaism.
"I'd like to go to Stanford or an Ivy League school, somewhere that's really good academically. I'm hoping to get their interest," Liberman said.
Between early-morning private workouts in Pasadena, a long school day, religious studies and evening basketball practice until 10:30, Liberman barely has any spare time.
"The spare time is usually used for basketball anyway," he said. "TV? Maybe an episode of 'Family Guy' before I fall asleep, and that's about it."
Lonnie Jackson is already Valencia's all-time leading scorer, and the Boston College-bound senior is having another excellent season, averaging 31 points heading into Thursday's late game against Blair. Jackson earned all-tournament honors at the Oaks Christian tournament and the Canyon tournament.
Cristian Alaya of First Lutheran is averaging 27 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists - not bad for a 5-10, 135-pound point guard. In a 58-53 loss to Trinity Classical on Dec. 9, he had 39 points and 19 rebounds.
What a wonderful Christmas it was for the Mission League.
Crespi, Harvard-Westlake and Chaminade all won tournament championships.
The Celts (12-3) knocked off University of Irvine in the Marin Catholic tournament. The Wolverines (11-2) beat Colton in one of the divisions of the Desert Heat Classic and Chaminade upended Calabasas in overtime in the Chaminade tournament.
Loyola made the finals of the Oaks Christian tournament before losing to Etiwanda and Alemany finished seventh, going 2-2 with an impressive victory against Price.
Notre Dame played in the Modesto Christian tournament and went 3-1.
Things continue to go south for the Sylmar boys' basketball team.
After enduring one of the most lopsided playoff losses in area history last year in a 99-point loss against Taft, the Spartans dropped to 2-13 this season in a 60-55 Valley Mission League setback against Kennedy.
Dom Vargas scored 24 points to lead Kennedy.
Alex Moreno had 25 points for Sylmar.
With coaches in attendance from nearly every Mission League team, the Loyola boys' basketball team put on an impressive display of offense, defense, and fast-break ability in a relatively easy 63-49 victory against Notre Dame in a league opener.
Junior Julian Harrell scored 18 points, junior Justin Childress had 10, Joe Stein had nine, Nachu Amah had nine and freshman-sensation Parker Jackson-Cartwright had eight in a total balanced effort for the Cubs (9-3, 1-0).
"We just didn't bring it," Notre Dame forward Kennedy Edwards said. "The intensity wasn't there. We didn't play hard, aggressive and didn't challenge them."
Loyola sprinted to a 25-17 lead after one quarter and responded to every challenge and mini-run the Knights (9-5, 0-1) threw its way.
Kennedy Edwards, Jonathon Bell and Antwon Johnson each scored baskets to get Notre Dame within six points in the second quarter but the Cubs quickly extended the lead to 11 points before going into halftime with a 10-point lead.
Edwards and Johnson each scored baskets to again cut the deficit to six points in the first minute of the third quarter but Childress, Amah and Harrell each came right back with baskets and Loyola went up 45-34 with 2:15 remaining in the quarter.
David Brownlee gave Notre Dame one last gasp with two baskets to end the third quarter and get within seven points but Loyola received a 3-pointer from Jason Jones and sprinted away from there.
Edwards had 15 points, Johnson had 14 and Bell had 11 to lead Notre Dame but no other player scored more than six.
Edwards kept Notre Dame within striking distance in the first half but was bottled up in the second half for only one field goal.
"We had foul trouble in the first half and couldn't keep him off the glass," Loyola coach Jamal Adams said. "We got our physical guys in there in the second half and put a body on him."
The Knights also hurt themselves with several missed layups and turnovers in the first half to create the hole they could not dig out of.
It won't get any easier for Notre Dame this week with Harvard-Westlake visiting on Friday and the prospect of starting league play 0-2 a possibility.
Loyola will host Crespi on Wednesday in what should be an outstanding game matching two teams that are rapidly improving and have been tested by tough nonleague schedules thus far.
"Our group played hard and together," Adams said. "They like each other and have a lot of confidence. We have played a great schedule that has prepared us for what is to come."
Brentwood coach Charles Solomon has put together another outstanding event for girls' basketball.

DJ Saul, a junior guard from Simi Valley, who made his return to the starting lineup right before Christmas after missing the Crescenta Valley tournament while battling the flu, scored a career high 27 points in the Pioneers opening round win against La Quinta (Westminster) at the Desert Heat Classic tournament in Palm Springs. Saul was perfect from the floor, making all four of his shots from two point range and all five of his shots from 3-point range (including four of six from the free throw line).
Saul led the Simi Valley JV team in scoring last season and has been a valuable side-kick for Jonathan Davis so far this season. Saul has pitched in 12 points per game so far, including shooting 48% from behind the three point arc.
The Pioneers are 8 - 3 on the season including a 2 - 0 mark in Marmonte League play. They will play at Thousand Oaks on Friday, January 7th which should be another great match-up in the rivalry.

Cleveland played its best defense of the year to end 2010 with a victory against a very good Chief Stealth squad. Cleveland led the whole way, leading by 13 points at the end of the third quarter, and holding on for the win. Sharpshooter Adrian Francis led the Cavaliers with 23 points, making 6 of 10 3-pointers. Jaylen Bland was somewhat subdued, scoring only 11 points, but grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists. J.R. Williams was a blur, pushing in transition and leading Cleveland with seven assists. The Cavaliers move to 6-6 on the year as they head into West Valley League play.

Mira Costa dominated the third quarter and cut the lead to five points, at 48-43. But, they could get no closer as Cleveland rallied late with a clutch putback layup by Jason Moore and 3-pointers by Kody Riewthong and Adrian Francis.
