Boys' basketball: El Camino Real loses to San Pedro

| | Comments (0) |

The struggles continue for the El Camino Real boys' basketball team.

The Conquistadores suffered an extremely close loss against Birmingham in West Valley League play Friday and couldn't hold a 10-point second half lead against San Pedro in a 58-51 nonleague setback at Oaks Christian.

DaShawn Brown scored 23 points and Alan Garcia added 15 for the Pirates (7-11).

New Mexico St.-commit Temjae Singleton and J.T. Nemit each scored 13 points to lead ECR.

Things looked good for ECR after Anthony Jones completed a 3-point play late in the fourth quarter for a 51-50 lead but Brown answered with a 3-pointer, Garcia converted a 3-point play and Brown made two free throws with six seconds remaining to seal the win.

The Conquistadores dropped an 88-86 decision in overtime to Birmingham after Corey Randall made a 60-footer from beyond half-court at the regulation buzzer to send Fridays game into overtime.

The road doesn't get any easier with a game against Taft on Monday and two more league games next week
