HS HOOPS: Look who's still alive in section's top playoff division

| | Comments (0) |

In the Southern Section's biggest division, Valencia is the last local team standing, as the 12th-seeded Vikings play host to No. 4 Etiwanda (27-2), ranked No. 6 in the state by Maxpreps, in the Div. I-AA quarterfinals Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Only once in Valencia's history have the Vikings (21-7) advanced past the quarters, but they've never had an impact player like 6-4 guard Lonnie Jackson, who scored 36 points in a shocking road upset Friday at Murrieta Valley. He's averaging 23 points and loves to shoot NBA-range 3-pointers.

If Valencia can pull another upset, a date with top-seeded Long Beach Poly could be looming.
