May we offer our sincere apologies to our loyal local readers

When you went to pick up your copy of the L.A. Daily News on Friday morning, you likely noticed instead that you were reading a copy of the Whittier Daily News.

This was not an effort to cross-promote coverage, nor did the newspaper delivery person have the wrong address, it was a decision made by management in an effort to get a newspaper out to readers after the entire L.A. Newspaper Group encountered a system crash shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Since the Whittier Daily News was the only paper that been completely sent to the printer at that time, a final decision was made shortly after midnight Thursday night/Friday morning to abort any back-up plans to get the L.A. Newspaper Group server back up and running in an effort to get a newspaper out in time to the delivery trucks.

Fear not, all of the local coverage provided Thursday by the dedicated group of L.A. Daily News writers has been linked to the prep sports Web site at www.dailynews.com/preps.

Unfortunately, you just won't find it in the printed edition of Friday's newspaper.

Our sincere apologies to our loyal local readers, but technology wasn't on our side Thursday night.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we hope to have this situation rectified Friday so we do not encounter a repeat scenario in the near future.
