HS BASE: Great ready for intriguing pitching duel with Giolito, Lathuras

Mission League competition heats up this week, as Notre Dame and Harvard-Westlake play a two-game series beginning today at 3:45 at Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks, then Friday at 3:30 at O'Malley Field in Encino.

Two of the area's top right-handers, junior Lucas Giolito of Harvard-Westlake and Matt Lathuras of Notre Dame, are expected to go head to head today, and that figures to be one of the best pitching matchups you can find in the Valley.

"It's two quality guys," Harvard-Westlake coach Matt Lacour said.
