Boys' basketball: Mater Dei holds on against Loyola

Mater Dei held off a Loyola comeback for a 94-86 victory in the championship game of the Nike Fairfax tournament.

Xavier Johnson scored 32 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win.

Mater Dei was without sophomores Stanley Johnson and Shaqquan Aaron.

Katin Reinhardt also left the game early with an ankle injury.

Elijah Brown scored 18 points for Mater Dei.

Mario Soto scored 17 points for Mater Dei.

Parker Cartwright scored 21 points and had six assists and four steals to lead Loyola.

Jacob Hazzard and Justin Childress each had 17 points for Loyola.

Hazzard was 6 of 22 from the field, includng one for 9 in the first half.
