| | Comments (0) |

It looks like Buckley will finally have some competition in the Liberty League next year.

Providence, under the direction of new coach Ernest Baskerville, won the championship game of the St. Monica tournament.

The Pioneers beat L.A. University, 48-28.

In pool play, the Pioneers beat St. Monica, South Pasadena and View Park Prep, before a semifinal victory against Moorpark.

Baskerville noted strong contributions from high-scoring 3-pointer shooter Patrick Gonzalez and incoming freshman Marcus Lovette, Jr.

Buckley has many talented sophomore guards and the two games with Providence should be terrific next year.

Viewpoint and Yeshiva are also improving making the Liberty League intriguing amogst small-schools.
