West Hills' 12-under baseball all-star team advanced to the PONY Bronco West Zone tournament following a 3-2 victory Tuesday over Ventura Coast Thoroughbred in the Super Regional final in Whittier.

West Hills (12-1) opens the eight-team, double-elimination tournament at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Orem, Utah, in Whittier.

The winner advances to the 10-team Bronco World Series, scheduled to begin Aug. 4 in Monterey.

West Hills won all four games at the sectional level, then rebounded from a 4-3 loss to Newbury Park in the regional tournament to win four in a row to advance to the Super Regional, where it won all four contests.

Hart's 10-under baseball all-star team advanced to the PONY Mustang West Zone tournament following an 11-1 victory Monday over Charter Oak in the Super Regional final in San Marcos.

Hart (15-2) opens the eight-team, double-elimination tournament at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Seattle, Wash., in Los Alamitos.

The winner advances to the eight-team Mustang World Series, scheduled to begin Aug. 3 in Burleson, Texas.

Despite losing twice to Simi Valley, once in section and again in regional competition, Hart avoided a third meeting in the Super Regional and cruised to four victories. Simi Valley suffered losses to Chino Hills and Irvine and was eliminated from the 16-team tournament.

La Canada, Camarillo and Mid-Valley Thoroughbred are competing in the PONY Mustang 9-under West Zone tournament, beginning Thursday in Walnut.

Camarillo takes on West Seattle at 5 p.m., with La Canada facing Mid-Valley Thoroughbred at 7:30 p.m.

Hart, North Valley and Simi Valley are still alive in the Shetland Southern California World Series in West Covina.
