BOYS' BASKETBALL: Mission League youngsters shine at californiapreps.com showcase

Several young players from the Mission League stood out Saturday at the eighth annual Slam Jam/californiapreps.com incoming sophomore and freshman showcase at Taft High Schoolin Woodland Hills.

Notre Dame's Ryan Ducar (freshman) may have made a name for himself the most.

Ducar registered a rare triple-double with 26 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in a 105-74 victory against the La Canada Blazers.

Ducar received help from school teammate Cameron Glassen (22 points) and Chaminade's Dylan Cuenca (19 points and six assists).

Ducar then came back with a solid performance in a victory against a team comprised of players from Moorpark High.

Ducar scored 18 points and had five rebounds, three assists and five steals.

Harvard-Westlake sophomores Derrick Newton and Michael Sheng scored 22 and 19 points, respectively, in an 87-79 victory against Dreamvision/Vision Athletics 2015's.

Newton had 10 rebounds and Sheng made five 3-pointers with five assists.

Chaminade's Justin Eisen (sophomore) and St. Genevieve's Isaac Girley (sophomore) each scored 17 points in the Indepedent #2's 58-56 setback against Get Your Game Right All-Stars.

Crespi had two good looking freshman.

Sammy Linn and Justin Bessard. Linn poured in 14 points and had 14 rebounds and seven assists in a 70-57 victory against the La Canada Blazers.
