HS BASEBALL: Oaks' Radke turns down 150k from Reds to honor Portland scholarship

With the signing deadline looming at midnight Monday for Major League draft choices, Oaks Christian grad Travis Radke has turned down a $150,000 signing bonus -- plus $80,000 for college -- from the Cincinnati Reds to honor a letter-of-intent to play for University of Portland.

"It became clear that Portland was the better choice for my future," said Radke, a left-handed pitcher drafted in the 45th round. "I believe for me to make it to the 'show' one day, college is the appropriate route.
