HS FOOTBALL: Chaminade-Notre Dame matchup should be intense

| | Comments (0) |

There's lots of motivation for both teams at 7:30 tonight in a heavily anticipated showdown between Notre Dame and host Chaminade.

Notre Dame (5-0) wants to remain undefeated plus deliver some payback because Chaminade defeated the Knights last season in their homecoming game -- Notre Dame's first homecoming loss in 35 years.

Chaminade, from the lesser Mission League and Western Division compared to the Serra League and Pac-5, wants to prove it can prevail in a "step-up" game -- especially after a 24-point loss two weeks ago to Serra League competitor Alemany.

It's also going to be fun to see who can gain more yards and score more touchdowns, Chaminade's Terrell Newby or Notre Dame's Khalfani Muhammad. The junior running backs are two of California's top underclassmen, and both have breakaway speed.
