HS FOOTBALL: Here's what's coming up this Friday

BIG GAMES

All games Friday

Canyon (6-0) at Valencia (3-3), 7 p.m. - Don't let the records mislead you. Two-time Foothill champ Valencia has faced tougher competition and perhaps is the favorite despite the fact visiting Canyon is averaging close to 50 points. Look for Valencia, led by DL Billy Shipman, LB Ryan Gorman and DB Tedric Thompson, to do everything possible to make life difficult for Canyon's ultra productive QB Jonathan Jerozal.

Oaks Christian (4-2) at Thousand Oaks (5-1), 7 p.m. - Thousand Oaks coach Mike Leibin says his Lancers don't get enough respect, so this Marmonte showdown is a prime opportunity, as the visiting Lions have won seven section titles over the past seasons and feature some of the Southland's top playmakers in QB Brandon Dawkins, WR Jordan Payton and RB Ishmael Adams. If Thousand Oaks can pull an upset, there will be no denying the Lancers' legitimacy.

Bishop Amat (5-2) at Crespi (6-1), 7 p.m. - After an exciting homecoming win over rival Notre Dame, Crespi looks to parlay the momentum in this key Serra League matchup. Crespi must focus on stopping Bishop Amat RB Jalen Moore, one of the Southern Section's best, and that means LB Lawrence Wilkerson and DBs Tyler Foreman, Brandon Arnold and Noah Ciccel need to step up.
