HS FOOTBALL: Mass exodus at Sylmar as 10 quit team

| | Comments (0) |

It's tough at Sylmar under first-year coach Andy Kasek, who has confirmed that 10 players have quit the team in the wake of a homecoming loss Friday to Van Nuys.

"Our roster has gone from 38 to 28," Kasek said. "To be totally honest, there is a total lack of accountability -- some of it comes down from the parents and alumni. When we win, these kids think it's all about them, and when we lose, they think it's everyone else's fault. It's enough to create a headache. ... I can't coach kids like that."

Kasek said he does not expect any of the players who quit to rejoin the team. Sylmar (2-4) plays at Canoga Park at 7 p.m. Friday.
