HS FOOTBALL: Recent history favors Valencia over Canyon

| | Comments (0) |

Just about everyone has picked Canyon to win the Foothill League title, and the Cowboys (6-0) play at Valencia (3-3) in a showdown at 7 p.m. Friday that figures to afford the winner an inside track.

Canyon is led by record-setting quarterback Jonathan Jerozal, who passed Nate Longshore with his 63rd career touchdown pass Friday for the most in Cowboys' history.

But if you look closer at the series history since Canyon coach Harry Welch left after the 2006 season, it's easy to pick Valencia. The Vikings have defeated Canyon four years in a row by an average margin of 26.3 points with every win by three touchdowns or more.
