UNSUNG HERO

Chris Hamilton, DB, Saugus - Hamilton, a freshman, came through with a key interception late in the third quarter in a 24-10 win over Hart at College of the Canyons, as the Centurions forced three turnovers in defeating the Indians for the third time over the past four seasons.

"That was pretty big. Chris is just 14 years old, but he's the real deal," Saugus coach Jason Bornn said. "He's smart, and he's physically mature beyond his years."

TOP PERFORMANCES

Alex Ball, PK, Westlake - Ball kicked two field goals, including a 45-yarder, in a 34-13 win at Moorpark, giving him 15 field goals, including eight over the past three games. With three weeks remaining in the regular season, Ball has 32 career field goals, one shy of the state record.

Isaiah Hastings, RB, Birmingham - Hastings took a short pass and scored on a 50-yard touchdown with five seconds remaining in a dramatic 20-14 win at archrival Taft.
