HS FOOTBALL: Here is the weekend schedule
TODAY
Notre Dame (5-1) at Crespi (5-1), 7 p.m. - Expect emotions to be sky high in this heavily anticipated showdown between arch rivals, as Crespi was the one that eliminated Notre Dame from playoff competition last season by defeating the Knights on a miracle last-second TD in the finale. Crespi loves to pass behind QB Cody Cordell, while Notre Dame is more balanced with fast RB Khalfani Muhammad, so the team that controls the pace could prevail. Notre Dame OL Austin Crist (knee) is definite.
Alemany (4-2) at Bishop Amat (5-1), 7 p.m. - Alemany is capable of scoring TDs in bunches, but in this Serra League showdown, the Warriors' defense will be put to the test against Bishop Amat RB Jalen Moore (1,027 yards, 14 TDs). Look for Alemany LB Bryce Henderson and fast DB Steven Mitchell to make an impact.
Saugus (3-2) at Canyon (5-0), 7:30 p.m. - Canyon is flyin' high with an average of 49.6 points, but the Cowboys face a stiff challenge against the visiting Centurions, as coach Jason Bornn looks to figure out a way to stop Canyon's high-performing trio of QB Jonathan Jerozal, WR Drew Wolitarsky and RB Max Archuleta.
Palmdale (2-3, 1-1) at Quartz Hill (4-1, 2-0), 7 p.m. - Palmdale needs a victory to remain in the hunt for a league title, so the talented but inconsistent Falcons need to execute better if they expect to keep up with a quality opponent. Quartz Hill has an elusive RB in Mario Lodge.
Taft (1-4) at El Camino Real (4-1), 7 p.m. - Taft has been tagged with a series of losses to high-powered opponents, and now there are no excuses, as the visiting Toreadors look to stop El Camino Real RB Kawan Rally (1,159 yards, 14 TDs), one of California's leading rushers.

Just more proof of the pro-Notre Dame bias of the DN that has been there for more than three decades. Maybe Crespi won its playoff spot with "The Play at the Dame" last season. Like a 3-7 team would have been a good playoff representative in the Pac-5. Maybe that works in the City Invite tourney.
