BOYS' BASKETBALL: Transfers spark Village Christian in season opener

Sierra Canyon transfers Bryan Alberts and Marsalis Johnson did quite well for Village Christian Tuesday in a nonleague season opening 81-65 victory against Verdugo Hills.

Alberts scored 22 points and Johnson had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Marquis Salmon scored a game high 24 points to lead Village Christian, which is a championship contender in Div. V-AA.

The Crusaders are scheduled to participate in the Burbank tournament next week
