BOYS' BASKETBALL: Canyon off to fast start, Valencia too.

| | Comments (0) |

Canyon is off to a 4-0 start after a close 53-50 victory against Renaissance Academy in the championship game of the Burbank tournament.

Coley Apsay and high-scoring guard Clay Kasdorf have been leading the way.

Canyon looks like a real contender in the Foothill League with West Ranch, Valencia and Saugus.

Valencia won the Simi Valley tournament late Saturday night in an 88-77 victory against El Camino Real.

Troy Hammel was named MVP after totaling 18 points in the championship. That performance followed a 34-point effort Friday in an 82-80 semifinal victory against Sierra Canyon.
