BOYS' BASKETBALL: Cleveland wins 13th place at Santa Monica tournnament

J.R. Williams led five Cleveland players in double figures with 16 points and the Cavaliers took 13th place at the Santa Monica tournament with a 70-67 victory against Corona Centennial.

Williams made 12 of 20 free throws.

Malik Johnson scored 14 points and Osamu Igodan, Kody Riewthong and Amonte Dees each scored 10 points for the Cavaliers (5-5).

Junior Sam Finley, a transfer from King High in Riverside, led Centennial with 27 points.

A key moment in the game came when Centennial coach Josh Giles was whistled for a technical foul and his team only trailing by two points with 43.9 seconds remaining.

Riewthong made both free throws and Cleveland hung on.
