It is a new era at tiny Providence High in Burbank.

Outstanding freshman guard Marcus LoVett, Jr. put on another show Saturday in the championship game of the Providence tournament.

Lovett, Jr. scored 37 points in a tight 71-69 victory against San Marino.

LoVett, Jr. scored 39 points one night earlier in an 84-70 victory against St. Genevieve in the semifinals.

Many are calling the 5'10 guard, the best freshman who will play in the Liberty League since Oakwood's Mitchell Butler in the 80's.

St. Monica edged St. Genevieve, 58-57, in the third place game.

Sherman Oaks C.E.S. squeezed past Hunting Park College-Ready Academy, 43-37, in overtime, for fifth-place.

In other consolation games, Holy Martyrs beat Wildwood, 61-37; Oakwood beat Pilibos, 48-36; and Calvary Baptist beat Waverly, 64-36.
