GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Burroughs tournament update
Here are Monday's results from the Magnolia Park Optimist Club tournament at Burroughs High:
Canyon 63, Fairfax 44: Alia McCoy had 19 points and nine rebounds, with Jaya Schultz contributing 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Cowboys, who scored the game's first 12 points in the semifinal victory. Tiffini Stone added 16 points, 10 in the second half, for Canyon, also received eight points from Leilani Okihara. Danah Haley scored 17 points for Fairfax, which cut the deficit to 41-35 with 90 seconds left in the third, but never got any closer.
Mark Keppel 72, Sierra Canyon 50: Sandra Gao had 22 points and Allyson Lock added 18 points for the Aztecs in the semifinal win. Jasmine Dodd and Toni Oni both scored 11 points for Sierra Canyon.
El Camino Real 58, Burroughs 33: Shannon Kingery had 16 points and seven rebounds, with Alexis Tanner contributing 11 points, five assists and four steals for the Conquistadores. Sabrina Halloran added 12 points for ECR, which built a 20-2 first-quarter lead. Sidney Ortega led the host Indians with nine points and Davina Del Castillo added six points, 12 rebounds and four assists for Burroughs.
Granada Hills 37, Burbank 35: Granada Hills scored 20 fourth-quarter points, capped by a 3-pointer from Jennifer Cuadra with one second left. Cuadra had 12 points and Danielle Ward added 10 points and 14 rebounds for Granada Hills. Damarie Gonzalez and Courtney Seider each had seven points for Burbank, which led 25-17 entering the fourth.
Hart 50, Wilson/HH 49: Breze Kimble scored the deciding basket with 10 seconds left and Cyndi King had 16 points for Hart. Tiffany Lam led Wilson with 16 points.
Culver City 76, Calabasas 29: Jade Neal had 24 points and Lunden Junious added 14 points for Culver City. Arine Costanian scored seven points and Jaclyn Goodman contributed six points for Calabasas.
Crescenta Valley 73, Poly 22: Ella Stepanian scored 15 points, with Lexi Mirzaian and Samira Seraji both adding 12 points for the Falcons. Elenoa Taulaki had five points and eight rebounds, with Nicole Wilkomm adding four points and 11 rebounds for Poly.
Glendale 42, Simi Valley 30: Kris Zadurian had 14 points and Erlin Keshishzadeh added 12 points for the Nitros. Hailey Bevans had eight points for the Pioneers.
