GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Updates from Wednesday at West Coast Holiday Festival

Here are updates from games played Wednesday at the West Coast Holiday Festival girls' basketball tournament. There are 20 games being held at 4 sites -- Bell-Jeff, Burroughs, Norco and St. Bernard:

INVITATIONAL BRACKET

Alemany 63, Rancho Verde 49: Despite Hannah Johnson being held scoreless in the first half because of foul trouble and Breanna Calhoun not starting because of transportation difficulties, Alemany overcame an early deficit to outlast Rancho Verde in the semifinals at Norco High. Calhoun, who entered the game late in the first quarter, had 17 points and 10 assists, with Johnson scoring 14 second-half points and adding 11 rebounds for the Warriors (12-1), who will play Mission League rival Chaminade (11-2) in Thursday's final at Burroughs in search of back-to-back tournament titles.
Clarissa Larios had 12 points and Leslie Lopez-Wood added 10 points for Alemany, which outscored Rancho Verde (9-4) by a 26-12 margin in the second quarter.

Chaminade 65, St. Bernard 53: Annie Tarakchian had 13 points and 13 rebounds, with Mi'Chael Wright adding 12 points and 12 rebounds for the visiting Eagles, who built a 42-18 halftime lead in the semifinal victory at St. Bernard High. Cassie MacLeod had 20 points and five steals, with Robyn Brown contributing 11 points and seven rebounds for Chaminade (11-2), which advanced to its second tournament final this season.

Camarillo 68, Rancho Cucamonga 48: Geralynn Leaupepe had 18 points and 11 rebounds, with Geraldynn Leaupepe adding 14 five points and five rebounds for Camarillo (11-3), which received 13 points from Micaela Pericone-Kapp in the fifth-place semifinal at Norco High.

Bell-Jeff 59, Pacifica/Oxnard 39: Rishonda Napier had 18 points and Jasmine Smith added 13 points for the Guards (6-6) in the 13th-place semifinals at Burroughs High.

Sierra Canyon 55, Silverado 52: Kennedy Burke scored 24 points and Zoe Goss had 18 to for the Trailblazers (9-4) in the consolation semifinals at Norco High.

Canyon 56, Santa Monica 40: Alia McCoy had 17 points, Jaya Schultz added 12 points and Tiffini Stone contributed 10 points for the Cowboys (10-2) in the consolation semifinals at Burroughs High.

GOLD BRACKET

Valencia 75, Burbank 53: Facing a nine-point deficit at halftime, the Vikings outscored Burbank 36-4 in the third quarter as part of a 48-6 surge over a 12-minute span in the ninth-place semifinals at Burroughs High. Ashley Pinsker (15 points, four steals), Kalia Summerlin (14 points, four steals) and Jennifer Anumba (11 points, seven rebounds) combined to score 38 of their 40 points in the second half for Valencia (7-6), which received 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists from freshman Talia Roth. Jamie Gonzalez led Burbank (6-5) with 18 points and sister Damarie Gonzalez added 15 points.

Harvard-Westlake 68, Burroughs 44: Leslie Schuman had a career-high 22 points and Natalie Florescu added 19 points for the Wolverines (5-9), who secured the victory in the ninth-place semifinals with a 16-4 run in the fourth. Jessica Adams and Sidney Ortega both had nine points for the host Indians (4-7).

Notre Dame 38, Saugus 37: Despite 22 points from NYU-bound Megan Dawe, the Centurions (5-6) fell in the quarterfinals of the at Burroughs High. Katherine Wright had eight points for the Knights (10-4), who have won three tournament games by a combined five points.

West Ranch 60, Castlemont 34: The Wildcats (6-3) posted their most impressive win of the tournament, advancing to the semifinals against Notre Dame at 9 p.m. Thursday in Burroughs' small gymnasium.
