WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Valencia graduate Spargo honored by Big West

Lauren Spargo, a Valencia graduate, was selected Big West Conference player of the week after leading the Long Beach State women's basketball team to victories over Dartmouth and Western Michigan.

Spargo, a 5-foot-11 freshman, had 16 points, two rebounds and two steals in a 66-52 win Friday over Dartmouth.

A former All-Foothill League first-team selection, Spargo recorded 18 points, seven rebounds and two assists, in addition to hitting four 3-pointers in a 76-56 victory Sunday over Western Michigan in the Beach Classic at the Walter Pyramid.
