BOYS' BASKETBALL: Sierra Canyon 59, Brentwood 58

Jahmel Taylor scored 21 points and Jesse Howell scored 14 points to lead Sierra Canyon to a 59-58 Alpha League victory against Brentwood at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch.

Taylor missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw situation with 1.5 seconds remaining and the Trailblazers survived a Ountae Campbell desperation heave at the buzzer.

Leland King scored 18 points, Tra Holder scored 13 points and Yonathan Napoleon had 13 points to lead Brentwood (12-7, 1-3).

Brentwood lost its fifth consecutive game while Sierra Canyon won its third in a row.

"We are playing a lot better," Sierra Canyon coach Ryan Silver said. "Jahmel is finally starting to get healthy. We are excited about our momentum moving forward."
