Buckley of Sherman Oaks eeked out a 53-52 victory against host Viewpoint of Calabasas to take over first place in the Liberty league.
Andrew Farhadi buried a 3-pointer from the left corner with 1:30 remaining which proved to be the difference for the Griffins.
Phil West scored 13 points and Shawn Broukim had 12 points for Buckley.
Hunter Carlin scored 14 including 12 in the second half for Viewpoint.
After missing the playoffs last season, Montclair Prep of Panorama City took a huge step towards securing a playoff berth Tuesday night in a 56-47 Olympic league victory at Crossorads of Santa Monica.
Junior guard Daymond Cowlah scored 16 points, dished out eight assists and had six steals for the Mounties (11-7, 3-3).
Three other players scored in double figures for Montclair Prep, who now take a well deserved break until next Tuesday.
Roland Makoge was instrumental in keeping the Mounties ahead as he drained two key three point baskets including one with four minutes remaining stretching Montclair Prep's lead to seven points.
Montclair Prep started the game on an 18-6 run only to see Crossroads come back with a 13-4 spurt of its own. But Montclair Prep answered with a 10-0 run to end the half with a 13 point lead, 32-19.
