The Westlake High football team is either impatient or precocious.
Then again, why put off winning a championship until next year when you can do it now?
Junior quarterback Nick Isham scored on a one-yard touchdown with a minute left and linebacker Max Winsberg recovered a fumble in the end zone 11 seconds later to ice the Warriors improbable but impressive 17-7 upset of two-time defending champion St. Bonaventure of Ventura Friday night in the semifinals of the Southern Section Northern Division playoffs.
Westlake will meet the winner of tonight's semifinal between Moorpark and Valencia in next weekend's title game.
``Everyone always says we're a year away,'' said Winsberg, who also had a first-half interception. ``But we just believed it'd be this year.''
