San Fernando City Baseball Champs!

| | Comments (0) |

San Fernando High won its first City baseball title since 1991, and in the process upended City power Chatsworth in an 8-6 victory at Dodger Stadium.

The Tigers did it the hard way - beating El Camino Real in the semifinals and Chatsworth in the final.

San Fernando starter Jose Reyes went the distance, giving up nine hits and surviving a three-run third, but he was on the mound to close it out and got Ricky Obando to ground into a fielder's choice.

Crazy game so far in City Final

We're headed to the bottom of the sixth inning in the City Section baseball final and San Fernando, behind a wild, wacky five-run third, leads Chatsworth 8-6.

We've had everything from two squeeze bunts - both resulting in runs - to three pitching changes before a single out was recorded to a double steal gone bad only to good again when San Fernando misplayed two run-downs on the same play.

It's been that kind of game, and we'll keep you posted on how it ends.

Something tells me this 8-6 lead isn't gonna hold up - although San Fernando starter Jose Reyes is hanging in there.
