Dayne Crist, a top graduating quarterback from Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, is scheduled to participate in the first annual "Steve Clarkson Super Seven QB Retreat" on May 23 in Santa Barbara.
With Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Jerry Rice and Heisman winner Troy Smith set to lend instruction, the event will draw seven of the best high school
quarterbacks including Crist and Gatorade
National High School Player of the Year winner Matt Barkley of Mater Dei.
The retreat will feature both on-field and off-field training for the
young signal callers.
Clarkson, who has tutored everyone from Matt Leinert to Jimmy Clausen, is perhaps the nation's top private quarterback coach. He played at Wilson High in L.A. during the program's glory days in the 1970s and played professionally for the Denver Broncos and the CFL.

Brandan Anson, a senior at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a Taft High of Woodland Hills graduate, is awaiting word from the Cincinnati Bengals if he will be invited to their mini camp in June.
Anson, a wide receiver for Duluth, participated in a camp with the Bengals over the weekend. He got a chance to meet with some of their draft picks, namely Keith Rivers from USC, Jerome Simpson, Mario Urrutia and Andre Caldwell.
"We all did pretty well and we learned a lot," said Anson, who transferred to Duluth from California's Joaquin Delta College in 2006.
He played at Duluth for two years and was the North Central Conference leader in pass reception average (a school record 6.9 yards per outing) and made the second most catches in team history with 69.
The University of Minnesota, Duluth, athletic department is reporting on its Web site that Anson has been invited to attend the Bengals mini camp in June at Paul Brown Stadium. Anson said he and his agent were waiting to hear from the Bengals if he has been invited to camp.
Anson said he wasn't surprised that he is receiving attention from the NFL, but it was more than he anticipated.
"I had a good season," Anson said. "I was very overwhelmed when I did get that phone call."
Anson said that the camp he attended over the weekend went well. He returned to school this week and is scheduled to graduate with a degree in physical education in June.
"It was a good atmosphere," Anson said. "It was a really nice camp. Camp just ended. I don't want to jinx myself."
Apparently the Bengals staff told Anson there's a good possibility he will be invited to the mini camp in June.
"They told me I did well," he said.
When he was at Taft, Anson was a teammate of Steve Smith, who is a wide receiver with the Super Bowl champion New York Giants. The two have remained friends, and Anson gives Smith credit for making him a better football player.
"He taught me everything and showed me the ropes," Anson said.
Chris Long is the new football coach at Hoover, replacing Dennis Hughes, fired in January after finishing 0-10 this past season.

Harry Welch, who won five section titles and one state title at Canyon before winning a section title in his first season this past December at St. Margaret's in San Juan Capistrano, is recovering from heart surgery Friday in La Jolla to repair Arrhythmia, which caused an irregular heartbeat,
Welch, 63, known as one of the area's toughest taskmasters in his day, is in good spirits.
"For all those people all those years who said I didn't have a heart, I now have emperical evidence that I do," Welch said with a smirk. "The doctor said I should take a week and a half off, but I said three days. I thought that was a good compromise."

Antelope Valley made slow but steady improvement last season under first-year coach Brett Pape -- the Antelopes finished 4-6 but for the second consecutive year failed to qualify for the playoffs -- but things are looking up for a program that once was among California's most feared.
Returning quarterback Michael Davis has received a DI offer from Army, and talented junior running back Joey Vercher has transferred in from West Adams Prep in L.A.
"It's Davis' first offer, and Army runs the same option offense we do," said Pape, a former sports reporter at the AV Press of all things. "He just works his butt off, and the fact Army wants him is an indication of the kind of kid he is, a top student. I'm pretty proud of him."
Vercher is a 5-7, 170-pounder with breakaway speed who figures to get a long look.
"I don't know that much about Vercher, but he's real stocky and real shifty. We're excited to have him," Pape said.
