GIRLS' SOCCER: Win not enough for El Camino Real to reach Tri-Valley Classic final

| | Comments (0) |

El Camino Real's girls' soccer team remained unbeaten in the Invitational Division of the Tri-Valley Classic in Danville with a 2-0 victory Tuesday over Scotts Valley.

Despite the win, ECR (4-1-1) -- ranked No. 35 in the state by ESPN High School -- couldn't secure a berth in the championship at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after No. 2 San Ramon Valley (7-0-1) prevailed on a tiebreaker over the Conquistadores.

ECR tied San Ramon Valley 1-1 in Monday's tournament opener, but recorded a 5-1 victory over No. 13 Castro Valley (1-3-1), which lost 2-0 to San Ramon Valley. The tiebreaker was fewest goals allowed.

Alex Marquez and Leslie Ramirez scored for ECR, which faces Bishop O'Dowd of Oakland in its last tournament match.

Following a 1-0 loss Thursday to Notre Dame, El Camino Real (3-1-1) -- ranked No. 35 in the state by ESPN High School -- responded Monday at the 10th annual Tri-Valley Classic in Danville with a 5-1 victory over No. 13 Castro Valley (1-2-1), which came after a 1-1 tie against No. 2 San Ramon Valley (5-0-1).

Alex Marquez had three goals, with Dylann O'Connor and Stephanie Hussey also scoring against Castro Valley.

O'Connor scored against San Ramon Valley to give ECR a 1-0, before a failed clearance led to San Ramon Valley scoring the tying goal.

The Conquistadores face Scotts Valley (3-1-2) at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, then again at 3:30 or 5:15 in its final tournament match.
