Two time all-city pitcher Karyn Wright of El Camino Real has committed to Portland State following a weekend visit.
Wright, a right-hander, hopes to lead the Conquistadores to a City title this upcoming season after ECR lost to Carson in May in the championship game at Cal State Northridge.
Wright, who went 24-4 as a junior with a 0.84 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 174 innings, will sign a letter of intent next week during the fall early signing period.
Oak Park senior third baseman Christie Langlois has committed to Oregon State.
Langlois hit .523 with eight home runs last season.
Desiring to see more playing time at catcher, Maddy Jelenicki has left Valencia and will attend Saugus, Valencia softball coach Donna Lee confirmed Monday.
Jelenicki, who split time at catcher with Penn State-bound Karlie Habitz along with playing second base during her freshman season, will look to gain immediate eligibility to compete for the reigning Foothill League champion Centurions instead of having to sit out a year of varsity competition or playing at the junior varsity level.
Jelenicki verbally committed to UCLA before she played her first game at Valencia. She hit .500 with eight home runs, 23 runs and 32 RBIs for the Vikings, who reached the Southern Section Div. I quarterfinals.
Camarillo first baseman Kristie Dederick, who helped the Scorpions capture their first Southern Section softball title since 1991 with a 5-1 victory over La Mirada in the Div. II final, has signed to play at Providence and will attend the Rhode Island school this fall.
Dederick hit .372 with 31 runs, four home runs and 34 RBIs, in addition to playing outstanding defense, making one error in 152 total chances.
"I had some other offers, but I knew Providence was the right fit for me after I visited it and learned everything it had to offer academically and athletically," Dederick said.
