SACRAMENTO Calif. (AP) -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican candidate for vice president, has urged Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to veto a fee on cargo containers going through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach aimed at raising money to cut pollution.
Palin's letter to Schwarzenegger is dated Aug. 28, one day before presidential candidate John McCain announced she was his running mate. Palin argues that the California and Alaska economies would suffer as a result of the fee.
The bill would create a $60 fee for each 40-foot cargo container moving through the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oakland, which together handle more than 40% of the nation's goods.
California environmentalists say Palin has no business getting involved in the issue.

I am in Florida; but I came here from CA., regrettably. I was discharged at the old Long Beach Naval base. Then I traveled around a bit and settled in Lake Elsinore. I've seen my adopted state go through a lot over the years. I read the Press T online to keep up. This is how I found that this Palin nobody had reached out to the Governor re: a port fee for each 40 ft. container unloaded in the big ole' ports of LA & Long Beach & Oakland.
I think that $60 fee is within an sensible range & can be easily passed on without a major malfunction for the state. So what is Palin doing sticking her ambitious nose into California issues using the line both CA & Alaska economies would suffer? I say to her: Bug off and get lost. The bill will help an age old CA problem thru additional funding. I can't stand listening to her more and more each day. Governor? Don't listen, and do CA right instead.

This is just another example of the right wing fringe crap going on in this nation. Stay out of other states politics Palin. Of course you do like to be in control like your idol GW. We can do real well here in California without your meddling. Guess since you are finding you cannot control the investigation into your involvement in firing your brother in law then you need to see if there is something else you can. Butt Out Please!
