Here's one more chance, courtesy of the West Long Beach Association, to hear about Measure I, the infrastructure improvement tax, and Measure K, the school bond measure. That is, if you haven't seen the Mayor Bob Foster Show already. Foster has been working community groups nonstop throughout the city to promote Measure I. Measure K supporters from Long Beach Unified School District have increased their visibility as well lately.

Also, Terry Jensen, the former Redevelopment Agency board member who opposes Measure I, will speak separately at the meeting. Check it out, listen to the facts, then vote Nov. 4.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Silverado Community Center, 3100 Santa Fe Ave.

I know we need to pass something like measure I, I know it is over due. Do we have to have our apartment rents raised 300 dollars. We have a hard enough time paying our rent now. this makes more homeless. Do you make plans for the homeless were are they going after you raise our rents. For fixing the alleys and the side walks, You should make them soft, so people can get a cardboard box so they can sleep on them, There may be people who have foundations to help a city with matching funds. We do not have to pass this measure, there are other ways of doing this and raising our rents is not one of them. Lets not gamble our future with open ended measure.

I have been a resident of Long Beach for 40 + years. I can not attend that meeting. I made my comment because I have heard this type of retoric before. When I was in the Neighborhood Leadership Program . We have to sensible when it come to making a tax to pay for infastructure. I feel it is unfair to some persons who live here. This is the best City for a bus. I have lived in other areas on a tempority basis, and my heart was telling me to go back to Long Beach. Long Beach I love your history and your forward approach to impossible siturations You have a lasting value for everyone who comes here. The redevelopment agency has designs on Long Beach, we all may disagree with what they want. Big buildings along the view of our shore. This not Miami Beach. This is Long Beach. CSI is making movies because Long Beach looks like Miami now,. We are distinct, we are the best. you can no longer see fireworks from your apartment. This is unfair.
