In one minor action this week, but major for people in that neighborhood, the City Council approved 1st District Councilman Robert Garcia's proposal to allow overnight parking by permit for residents. Garcia wanted to give residents in the dense neighborhood around the park a little parking relief.

The park is at the west end of downtown next to the Los Angeles River.
