Tough day on CIF pitch so far

The Valley Christian girls soccer team and the Avalon boys soccer team lost in CIF championship games that could have gone either way.

The Crusaders fell to South Torrance, 1-0, in overtime in the Division V final, and the Lancers were undone in penalty kicks, 5-4, by Rosamond after a 1-1 match through regulation and OT in the Division VII title game.

The Long Beach area has two more chances later tonight. Millikan takes on El Toro in the Division I boys title match at Warren HS, and Los Alamitos meets San Clemente with the Division I girls title on the line at Mission Viejo HS.
