ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Girls
Dari Watkins, So., Los Alamitos
Watkins won two events at Friday's Klaus Barth Rock & Roll Invitational at Belmont Plaza Pool and helped the Griffins win the varsity team championship. Watkins won the 100-yard individual medley in 2:07.09 and the 100 butterfly in 57.26.
Boys
Boris Stantchev, Sr., Wilson
He outdueled the competitors of 28 other teams to win the individual title at the Champions Invitational on Saturday at the Terra Lago Golf Course in Indio. He shot rounds of 70-74-71 to finish with a 36-hole total of 1-under 215, leading the Bruins to third in the team standings.
