Los Al softball

After seeing just about every team in the PT Top 10, there is no doubt in my mind that Los Alamitos is the No. 1 team in the area, and I'm not sure they will come down from that spot. I'm not sure any team in the area could beat their "A" team.

The Griffins are very, very athletic - the most athletic team in the area - have arguably the top two players in the area (Spalding twins), a solid defense and are two deep in pitching with Amanda Sugita, just a sophomore who is probably the hardest thrower in the area, and Taryn Devich.

Los Al is 12-3, losing two of those games against Mater Dei and Norco, ranked No. 1 and No. 3, respectively in CIF-SS Division I, and to Esperanza (in which the Griffins didn't use their A lineup).

The Griffins, who are No. 6 in the CIF-SS DI rankings, open Sunset League play Thursday against Esperanza. It'll be a different result, I promise.

Dave,i happen to follow Lakewood softball and this season is a little tougher losing their big pitcher. But i have seen them beat Elkins(Tx) which is ranked top 20 in the country,Chapparal(Az)also ranked top 20 in the country, beat Rosary in pre-season,whom just beat Mater Dei.
Lakewood losing to Downey if you were there, the first game Lakewood hit about six bombs that would have have went out of any regulation field. The Downey outfielder were at the fence at mayfair park. It's funny Mater Dei could not score a run off Wilson ,but Lakewood scored 4 against Wilson. I think Lakewood could beat Los Alamitos.
