Take a look at the CIF Division II rankings for this week.

1. Etiwanda
2. Laguna Hills
3. La Mirada
4. Vista Murrieta
5. Yucaipa
6. Mayfair
7. Lakewood
8. Wilson
9. California
10. University

Four area schools, pretty nice. However, I don't think Mayfair is better than the Moore League schools.

La Mirada, which lost its first game of the season Monday night, and Mayfair will go head to head for the Suburban League title (although Norwalk could have a say in it). I haven't yet seen La Mirada, but word on the street is that the Matadores are tough. I have seen Mayfair and was fairly impressed with the team as a whole.

Even though Poly is sitting at 2-0 in the Moore League, Lakewood and Wilson are certainly the class of the league until the Jackrabbits prove otherwise. Poly takes on Wilson on Thursday at Joe Rodgers Field.

One team missing from the rankings - one that was pretty high in the PT rankings - is Downey. The Vikings are a solid team, when they are on. A doubleheader sweep of Lakewood is testament to that. Their problem is that they run a little too hot and cold. Coach Micah Karzen has to figure out a way to keep them running on hot only.

San Pedro is No. 2 in the PT rankings and should definitely stay there for at least a couple of more weeks. The Pirates had a wild 11-9 win over North Torrance over the weekend, but they are back to their Marine League schedule, which is pretty simple until they get to No. 8 Carson on April 16.
