St. Joseph softball

After watching the Jesters top Mayfair and Downey by 1-0 decisions over the last week, I can tell you that they are indeed for real, a team that will definitely have to be reckoned with.

They have a pretty solid hitting team, an above-average defense and a fair No. 1 pitcher in Christina Rosenbloom.

I think St. Joe coach Ralph Armenta said it best after Tuesday's win over Downey: "We are not a little team anymore."

The Jesters are 11-2, which has one of the best record of any team in the area. Their only two losses were a one-run setback against PT No. 2 San Pedro and 7-0 thumping by Thousand Oaks, which is No. 10 in the CIF-SS Division I rankings.

St. Joseph is No. 4 in CIF-SS Division IV, one spot back of Del Rey League rival Bishop Amat. The two open league play Monday at St. Joseph.
